Editing Organisms
I saw the most recent featured news regarding Victoria's research, and I found it to be fascinating! However I don't understand exactly how she went about editing the pixels for her organisms. As I'm not really a fan of chatroom style communication, I haven't gone digging in the discord to find out. I thought perhaps someone here could shed some light on this, or at least point me toward where I can find the information.

And in case Bludge is reading: I'm gonna quote you here saying a feature would be "soon" back in 2016...-
"Naming your animatroids will be coming soon! In the form of a craftable name tag, which also keeps that anim alive indefinitely, so you will be able to have them as pets. You will be able to use a leash to keep them near you, or craft a whistle to have them come to you! Soon."

....how soon is now? :D

LOVE THE GAME!

Thank you @Power!

The simplest way to get started editing your anims' genes is to export them and then drag the exported Creature Card into an image editor, change the pixels at the bottom (those encode the genes), save it, and drag it back into the game.

Most edited creatures will be non-viable and die, but with repeated experimentation you may start to have more success.

As far as naming, it's one of many features I would like to add, but not all of those features will eventually make it into the game. It depends on popularity and complexity and how much it affects existing game play. I will raise this feature's priority though!

Right now I'm working on a possible new tree-like life form based on L-systems...
Here's an example of the work in progress:

Oh wow, I'm excited about trees! Will they be a whole different kingdom of lifeform?!

Also, is there an option to "turn off" the zomboids? I just want to farm in peace.. but they wont stay in their house :(

The size and materials of zomb dungeons matter! If you want, post an image of your zomb homes...

I've started a new data and i'll keep that in mind. After experimenting with the UI for quite a while i finally figured out how to export, but how do you import? I can't seem to find instructions for how to use that feature anywhere, just the announcement of it's existence.

Just drag the image into your island. Depending on your OS, you may have to exit fullscreen mode, of course.
