FIXES: Game crashes on startup (updated 11.10.16)

We've received few reports of the game crashing when launching or just after the first cinematic. The QA team has been trying to reproduce the crashes in a test environment with similar hardware specs described in the DXDIAGs you've sent us. So far the bug hasn't manifested itself on our end, even with ultra / high / max resolution display settings.

While testing, the team did find out that if you receive the following crash notification mentioning "Fault Module Name: d3d_x64_f.dll", the issue is most likely caused by outdated display drivers. How to fix the startup crash

Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements (i.e. Intel Core i5-4460, 2.70GHz or AMD FX-6300, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 760 or AMD Radeon R7 260x) listed on the game's store page.
Install the latest display drivers. AMD Radeon here[support.amd.com] and NVIDIA GeForce here[www.geforce.com].
Install Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2015[www.microsoft.com]. The game checks this and installs it only during the first startup, so make sure you have the correct version installed.

Thanks for the info could you kindly tell me before I buy this game (due to the amount of complaints in several threads) if I can run this with no issues on 60fps
Intel i7 4790K 4.4Ghz Z97 480GB SSD + 4TB 16Gb GTX 980 4GB .
Your feeback would be greatly appreciated.

Purchased the game ,played for over 3 hours and no issues whatsoever.
excellent graphics first class game play constant 60 fps well pleased and very impressed with the game.

I recommend checking out the FAQ thread, especially sections "How well does the game run on my system?" and "Can my system run the game with maxed out settings?".

Interesting how a lot of users are reporting issues with "d3d_x64_f.dll", on my other Windows 10 machine, Windows Defender (with the latest definitions) kept detecting this as Malware and removing it, although on my main machine it didn't.

im having the same issues here.
everything updated, windows 7.

crashes every two minutes or so. no matter if its a gameplay, live action, or cinematic.

Probably have to wait until they find a solution. Because I was not able to fix this stupid situation where the game crashes just after the cutscene.

Someone said that updating to Internet Explorer 11 fixed cutscene crashes.

This helps only those who had problems with the tv series. I run the series with the save of another person and it worked fine.

Crashes on startup. I click to run game, the steam window pops up to say "starting game" or whatever the verbiage is and then...nothing.

16gb Ram
GTX 780

I updated windows. Updated graphics drivers. Updated C++. Still nothing.

Any thoughts?

EDIT: Updated the optional Windows updates, restarted, and it finally worked. Frustrated but glad I can finally play now.

I am also having a problem with the game myself. Bought it last week and since then it never started.Tried installing/uninstalling it a couple times and even downloaded the latest driver for the GTX 970. Nothing happened so a friend helped out by going into the files.Said it was missing file "api-ms-win-crt-runtime-lt-1-0-dll".He ended up getting that file and putting it in there. After doing that I tried booting it up through the files and I get error message "Application was unable to start correctly 0xc000007b". I seriously have no idea what's going on

Still crashes when I try to watch the Live action via time line or in game. Someone said IE 11 would help, don't know if it's true or not but I've had trouble with installing IE 11, had to system restore because after the install all my other programs including steam wound't start (only the windows program worked)
