A lot more content available for one thing, though 4 is catching up I suppose.

4 is catching up, but for a significantly higher cost. I paid for the Sims 3 ultimate bundle on steam for like roughly $80 and it came with everything. I do love the sims 4 art style, but its a bummer that the game is so money hungry

Yep...Too true.

I am a huge fan of open world games.

The ability to run, walk, bike, motorbike, drive, ride a horse from one location to any other location.

The graphics are so much better. The graphics on Sims 4 are more cartoonish, and make it feel like a cartoon ARPG. I'm happy to play an ARPG with those kinds of graphics, but I am spoiled by the Sims 3 graphics, so I didn't like them when I played Sims 4.

The color wheel and finer facial adjustments that can be used when creating Sims.

The ability to apply new design patterns to almost any object or piece of clothing or wall and floor pattern, along with the changes that can be made to those patterns with the color wheel.

Building homes, etc. is more fluid for me on Sims 3 than when I played Sims 4.

I'm sure there are lots of other things, but these are the first ones that come to mind. I might add more later on.

The open world and it is overall cheaper and easier to understand.

it took a while for me to get used to sims 4. I love the sims 2 and 3 the most. Though i will say i really love Sims 4 island living. It is by far my favorite pack i own so far. I do not own them all yet,
because it just offers way more to do.

The only thing with the sims 3 that's worse than the sims 4 is the performance. This game was not optimized whatsoever.

In the beginning sims 3 was a lot more expensive. I paid full price for everything. I learnt from this never to buy at once but wait for a discount. Ofcourse that means you have to wait some times very long. I stopped buying sims 4 more stuff because of all the bugs. They never made a fix for the bugs in sims 3 and i am curtain they will never make a fix for the bugs in sims 4. And afcourse is the sims 3 way better like the others said. I went back playing sims 3. No more sims 4

The open world, the wishes system (almost absent in TS4 whereas so important for gameplay purpose imho) and the depth of character traits give ! Plus way less DLC packs in order to have a lot of features (Supernaturals beings all together in one pack, same for Pets)
On the other hand, in TS4, I really enjoyed the CAS and Build&Buy mode improvements, it's more fluid and smooth, outfits categories and filters in B&B are lifesavers, and I actually liked the emotions system but yeah that's.. pretty much about it. I always end up going back to TS3 whereas I haven't touched TS4 in like a year and a half.

sims 4 is kinda bad TBH, its too easy and empty even with all the expansions.
i ended up uninstalling it from my PC, i just can't bring myself to go back.

sims 3 is still unpredictable, there is allot of secrets and exploits you can do in the world.
AI/NPC sims move around randomly and do their own thing and get married and move out etc.

sims 4 AI is dead,
they act like MMO aimless NPCs, if you ignore them they'll do nothing, they'll just age and die.
you have to micromanage everything which is annoying. the story progression option doesn't work for me or rarely work and its not worth it.

SIms 3 has more substance, I actually enjoy playing the game and sims have consequences for their actions that usually can't just be overlooked. Sims 4 is more boring to me.
game is skippy and xchoppy on a 9700k /2080s 32 gb ram
Its the open world, ability to customize everything unlike Sims 4.. and Sims 4 has become high maintenance both in price and with all of their constant popups.. From what I have observed I don't think Sims 4 was a ready full game from its core, which means by now it is full of technical debt.. needing patches for its patches, etc...

I also feel like I need a pop up blocker when I want to just play.. It feels like I am on my cell phone or something because there is so much micromanaging popups going on.. I suppose I am looking for something more cozy and chill and that is what I find in Sims 3... I like creating my own neighborhoods -sims 4 doesn't offer

Free roaming. I like being able to go where the hell I want to, when I want to.

mainly the open world, create-a-style, and just the general familiarity i have with ts3 over ts4. i already owned ts3 and spent hundreds of hours playing it when ts4 was released, and ended up not liking 4. i've kind of just stuck with 3 ever since
