Nothing officially, but the CEO has 'expressed interest' in a SShock2 remake, probably depends on how the OG SShock remake sells. As Hummel mentioned, there's a remaster/enhanced edition of the sequel in the works, hopefully we see it soon!
Been re-playing SS2 with enhancing mod lately (HD textures etc) , it hasn't aged well infortunatly :koller:, especially when you come from playing SS remake.

Couldnt wish more than a brand new shining remake from Nightdive , they have done such a great work with SS remake:ix_life:

I have SS2 loaded with all the graphic and audio mods and yes, it makes it better but it still looks like an old game. What little I have seen in the Enhanced Edition trailers doesn't look much different than modded SS2 tbh. But I think they are redoing all the cutscenes too so there's that.

Oof, graphics wh⌀re detected.

Graphical pizzazz is the only thing the System Shock remake has over SS2. In every other respect SS2 is still superior. It has a better intro, a better HUD, better font scaling, a better interface for reading logs and emails, better inventory management, better vending machines, better recycling implementation, better music, better sound design, better voice acting, better enemy AI, better melee combat, more broadly varied level architecture, none of the stupid "KEWL" touches Night Dive added like rechargers electrocuting you and all the damn pickup animations, collectable minigames, an automap that supports annotations, a quest tracking system, and—with community mods—it even has higher-resolution textures.

Graphic ♥♥♥♥♥ ? excuse me , do we know each other ? You're talking to a 42yo father that still plays 80's games ...

1st full 3D games engines (1995/2003 ) aged poorly from graphics to physics, at least much more than any 2D sprite game.

Also your statement comparing both games is totally wrong from start to finish , and im not going to argue with you about it since it looks like it would be a complete waste of time,

Yeah, I remember System Shock 2 looked dated even back in the day, when it first came out. The story and gameplay though, that was amazing (and still is).

Never got into ss2. The atmosphere was gone. It was just another fps to me.
Still nothing? Wow, I was expecting some update.
They better hurry up lol
Enhanced Edition is the most we'll get of a remake or remaster of SS2. Trying to redo all of that from scratch in a new engine would be needless since, unlike SS1, it already has an established 3D aesthetic. And as you see, Nightdive strives to stay as consistent as possible. SSR was a pain enough to develop in favor of the fans, but it shouldn't discourage them from trying again with another remake or new IP.

That is fair, I am not even mad at them at all. Good enough. They're a great studio.

"Unlike"? What?
Nightdive strives to stay as consistent as possible.
WHAT?

System Shock 2 needs a major do-over in regards to its very outdated UI (ironically I find it worse than SS1's, it's all over the place and very inconsistent), and at least a second glance on many of its mechanics, such as weapon degradation, useless mandatory skills, or the overdominance of standard ass rifle. That said I do not think Nightdive is up to the task anyway. That said, I find their approach of "here's a texture pack, slightly worse than existing ones, gib 10 bux" also rather funny.
