Other than that it could have been temporary and the ban expired years ago. No harm in logging in after all this time just to test/confirm before making a support ticket.
Perhaps they were aiming for someone else in the chatroom who said something horrible.
But as you say this was a perma I'm sure they have the reason (and the exact conversation) written down somewhere else its not worth having applied the ban.

It could have been some gameplay thing too... but unless there was some network glitch that they detected as cheating then I have no further ideas for you.
