What is the name of this game genre?

I grew up playing these kind of games and I absolutely love the excitement you can get from such a simple strategy game with simple graphics.

Since then I've kind of being "on the hunt" for these, and I found this gem. I absolutely love this game btw, dev, if you ever see this: thank you so much!

Anyway, how can I find more of these? What are these kind of games referred to as?

I don't know if there is an official genre name, but I have heard them referred to as node-based strategy games before. I think there might even be some wikipedia article somewhere about it...

I believe the original game of this type is Galcon ("Galactic Conquest"), so you might find others related to that title.
