Wasted potential.

This is an interesting title. In one important way, it is worse than Seasons 1, 2, and the Final Season: character design and development. I found so many characters hard to like and easy to hate. For a story game, that is a big deal! However, in every other respect, I cannot complain. The graphics and sound are great, the action sequences are on par, the story is brutal and basically what I expect except for the fact that some decisions were not as wrenching since I didnt care about the characters as much.

HOWEVER, I enjoyed having Javier as the playable character. For me and my SO, since Javier was a blank slate, we had the chance to be adventurous with how we played. We decided Javier was a hard ass who would be brutal often. We didnt have the guts to do that in 1, 2, or the Final Season. It was a fun change of pace to be in our "bad era".

Also, the game develops Clementine in a pivotal way. If people skip this game and go straight to the Final Season, they will not have witnessed Clem as a hardened badass who is sometimes merciless - and who now needs to try hard to balance her violent side with her compassionate side for AJ's sake.

If I controlled Clem, I would have played her to be a goodie two-shoes out of my nature; but having her taken away from my control and go on to show that she is now a hardcore part of the new world really added a lot of depth to my understanding of her and has colored the way that I played her in the Final Season.
