Half-Life: Alyx

This game is widely accepted to not be good. And that is a problem.
Valve, a company with many successful games in their track record, games like half life, cs, dota, l4d, all those games ended up being very successful. however, this is pretty much the ONLY title in the half life IP that wasn't successful and that says a lot. the biggest strange thing is how not even the game's belonging to half life franchise saved the game commercially, everybody still trashed on it since its inception. back when it was just announced, a lot of comments said that this game won't be good enough, since this is how it essentially displayed itself, everybody complained that half life alyx is just a VR title. so many accepted that they won't buy this game, either PC or no buy. and it makes sense because valve haven't really done normal games for a long time, they are trying to do something that isn't actually good, rather experimenting with things which eventually fail.

many people also said that hl alyx is a failed experiment, it also makes sense, since other valve games, even deadlock, don't target VR anymore. valve are focusing on mouse and keyboard again, so who this VR half life was for? honestly, there are people who gatekeep hl alyx, but those are usually people trying to justify their failed purchase because VR failed ultimately. it's not a viable business decision to go and start making vr games because you simply won't make much money from it. and hl alyx being such a title that didn't even sell well, what is the point behind this game? it never matched other half life games in terms of quality and especially storytelling and this whole thing was just a drag, an attempt to throw people into VR market, but it didn't work out and no one really wanted it at the end. valve should have been more considering and actually care about interests of gamers, that's the main thing to extract from it.

lol ... here we go again. How can someone be so obsessive over a little VR game. Alyx appears to own your soul and I can't stop laughing.

He's doing what he has been doing in Half-Life 1 forums.

It has gotten so bad that at one point the whole forum page was nothing else but posts by "Tighty Whitey" complaining and spamming until FINALLY he got served and his posts deleted.

And judging by other peoples reports he is insulting everyone who got in an argument with him.

I avoided that embarrasing encounter after he sent an invite.

I told him that I have nothing to talk to him in private.

And no one else should.

That really doesn't surprise me given my experience of his actions here.

Millions of VR owners bought the game and enjoyed it. Why would one person's supposed dislike of it change anything.

I dislike loads of games other people like, but don't feel I have to zealously spam their forums over it. I accept that others genuinely like things I don't and visa versa. That's a normal balanced and healthy outlook based on the acceptance of the differences between people which makes for a more interesting world.

Nothing wrong with saying you disliked the game and for whatever reasons, but to turn it into pretty much a baseless ongoing vendetta seems more a reflection of the person themselves and comes across as both unbalanced and pointless.
Can we get a discussion ban on tighty wighty here? Spamming the discussion forum with non-sense and misinformation

He's been doing this for month upon month. There doesn't appear to be any common sense moderation here.

This one guy "Widely held to not be good"

Can I have what you're smoking?
what is OPs beef with this game? its so obsessive
Tighty-Whitey game (alyx) was a engine and team test. (very save aproach). You can all read this in finals hours of HLA. Half life 3 was started developing in q1 2013 and got canceled in q4 2014 due to unfinished source 2 engine. Alyx basicaly confirmed that the team and engine is stable and good enough to make proper (mouse and keyboard)HL 3 game. The team was scared of doing HL 3 after so long over a decade long break from making single player video games. The team was not sure if its even has enough talent to make HL3. Thats why for example they absorbed the new and fresh talent from santo campo team (firewath, valey of the gods). The valve is very small team 286 people half is hardware and steam oriented). So it left 150 people to work for games. 80 people for alyx 20 for deadlock and 30 for cs2. So there wasn't even enought people to work on proper HL 3. After Alyx many old valve employers left valve becouse of Alyx bad reception Dario casali for example.
i'll reiterate what i said before, this game is avoided by a huge ton of half life's community and they don't treat that type of games only specifically targeting VR in good light or overall don't respect titles having tendency to be nothing but cash cows which half life alyx only ended up ultimately being.

Actually, Alyx was avoided by a large percentage of previous HL fans because they didn't own VR hardware and were intelligent enough to realise a non VR mod was unlikely to deliver a great experience. Some of them have subsequently gone on to invest in VR and enjoy the game along with other VR games.

I bought Index to first play Half-Life Alyx and now I will play other games as well.
Alyx is one of my favorite games of all time. And I very rarely play VR games. Someone needs to break down and buy an old Rift S, and actually try playing the game in question.
