The Solution To Game Stutters/FPS Drops
The game does not like dealing with a large block list. I had a block list of above 900 players/cheaters, and I tried everything under the sun to fix the frame drops/stutters. I changed my Nvidia setting, my in game setting, my OS setting, and nothing worked. I searched high and low and tried everything, but the same problems kept happening: sudden drops in frames every few seconds or minutes despite my computer hardly breaking a sweat, until I came across this comment on reddit that says that the issue is related to the large number of players in the block list. I unblocked everyone and the game no longer stutters. This solution works for me, but it does not mean that it will work for you. However, if you tried everything and your computer should run the game at 60 fps without breaking a sweat, this solution might help you. Remember to always keep a backup save.

i have CPUCores :: Maximize Your FPS on steam. Even though my system was not good, it played all 3 games very balancedly. I have a system that does not play Dark Souls 3. but I managed to play. I recommend.

Level 0 profile promoting a scam app on Steam... Great. Search on Google the name of that app, and the first result will be on reddit about how useless it is. If your PC cannot run a game, you can either upgrade your hardware, or look if it is throttling because it is full of dust and needs cleaning or thermal past, or make sure it is not infected with a virus that eats all the resources. Do not spend money on trash apps like the one shamelessly promoted in the previous comment. Save your money for a real upgrade.

He has a private profile, not a level 0 profile. You do too.

CPUCores may not work but the developers aren't around paying people to shill it. It's old news.

Doesn't change the fact that you are recommending a snake-oil software

If you don't believe in the programs, your only solution is to upgrade the hardware.
@leo:
thanks, now it makes a sense why it stutters every 12 seconds on my steamdeck

I am glad it helped. I think the game checks the block list every few seconds, and if the list of blocked people is in the hundreds, the game stutter because it has to go through them all to determine who can, and cannot connect with you even if you are playing offline.

There was an utility which blocks for you a good amount of well-known loud DS cheaters, and it was a long list. Seems like we both had it used. Tbh, since I used it one time - my dark-souls online experience became a way less frustrating. Although I was surprised a few of my friends got blocked too.

No, cheaters used to be in the thousands before they moved on to Elden Ring and other games.

Thanks for sharing. We need a pinned post with all the troubleshooting. So far, the issue can be either related to:

-Graphic card parameters that somehow limit the game to 30 or less FPS

-Huge block list on Steam that causes the game to stutter every few seconds

-Dust and lack of thermal paste that can cause the CPU or GPU to throttle

-Your GPU or CPU does not meet the minimum requirements to run the game at 60 FPS

The last two entries are like a common knowledge, not really game specific related and as helpful as Windows troubleshooting. You may include a clogged cooling fan as well :sans:
