edit. this isnt realiable
i found DMZ to my PC solved the issue 100% - tried many things including port forwarding of all steam and MHW ports
i dont like that solution but it is what it is for now until I figure out more
This didn't work for me. (It's already stated in the OP's second reply post)
nah im not gonna pin a ton of threads. better to have one thread so people can spider out from there based on context
not sure i understand your question. are oyu asking if we are risking banning for using a mod?
IIRC this game doesnt have vac bans and if its a client UI change it should be fine AFAIK
I expect many to be interested in that mod in particular since it works around whatever it is that makes textures look ridiculously low-res in the game.
yeah ok just because its a special technical fix
This also raises a second question for me as customer service hasn't responded is using cosmetic mods like the transmog mod bannable? I know this isn't the place to ask but I thought I could put it here.
P. S I know that you are not a dev but any insight on this would be great
look I can't give any thing official. im a random volunteer mod but I can say that cosmetic mods that only affect what you see and experience should be fine imho.
remember this is a disitrbuted MP game and isnt server based or MMO styled so long as you aren't moodifying the netcode I wouldnt worry about any sort of banning or flagging.
just please mod smartly.. and try and enjoy the game :)
Thank you, genuinely. This thread seems far safer than my old one.
Also, please stop fearmongering over mods. We know nothing, there is zero indication you will be banned or punished in any way for using fix mods and such, and if you were it would likely be temporary. Right now even full fledged hackers aren't getting banned, so it's a bit premature to act as if modding in MH is dead and that doing it is some huge risk. Speculating over what to fear is a poor use of one's time and it does nothing but cause harm, it does no good.
So please, people, stop. If you don't want to use mods for this reason, cool, but try not to go around warning people like it's the end times because of your opinion which has zero basis in factual reality. This is the very thing that polluted my original post that led to this one, so just.. restrain yourself please. You aren't saying anything that hasn't been said hundreds of times already and there's also zero evidence to back up any of the things you people are stating.. so it's just not worth posting, especially here.
We know there COULD, MAYBE, ONE DAY be a risk.. but there isn't one now, that much is fact. If Capcom continues to patch and fix the game, there won't even be a point of using these mods, and I'd hope they'd prioritize fixing the game over making anticheat if such a thing was even in the works.. so just calm down going forward. I made that post to help people, I even said it wasn't intended for discussion to try and avoid the ♥♥♥♥ storm that ensued.. please don't treat this thread the same way.
look if capcom didnt like mods etc they would have deleted this thread
also modding would have been next to impossible.
as it is. modding is as simple as plopping files into an override folder. does that sound like the design of a game that shouldn't be modded? :D
i now exclusively play windowed borderless and dont have that issue anymore
