Did they lose the rights to Alpha Centauri or something and that is why they had to make a game sort of similar to it? Most fans don't seem to like this spiritual successor game that much so it made me wonder why they went in this direction.

Hi All, recently installed the rising tide add on, and I think that they tried to fix what some played did not like in the original game, and actually broke the game for me. The AI is far too placid, and I do not like the new diplomacy system as it makes the AI again less aggressive, and therefore makes the game rather boring. I find the original game challenging, but rising tide is a snooze fest....
