Right click on darknessII.exe, properties, compatibility and check the next boxes:
run in compatibility mode for windows 7
run in screen resolution 640 x 480
run as administrator.
Then, try to run the game.
If the game finally runs, change the screen resolution in game options as your monitor needs.
Once the game runs, exit and now just do as above to uncheck the run in screen resolution 640x480 box, because if you don't do that, the game will always run in low res.
Go to properties->installed files and browse
open the drivers folder, install both the VC 2008 driver (it's the exe) and the direct x 9 driver.
Then
Go back to game properties
Under the general tab, click launch options and paste -dxlevel 90 in the text box.
That should let it run from steam
Fixed it for me, cheers
Does anyone know how to fix this? I was trying out the demo to see If I'd buy the game since it's on sale, but it's proving to be way too much trouble.
