everyone assumed it was just cancelled/replaced by child of light
I'm told it gets more interesting several hours into the game, but like, that's Final Fantasy XIII logic. I didn't fall for it then, and I won't fall for it now.
Hopefully the area in this much better game is cool though.
FF 13 never got interesting, ever. It's hardly a game either. I mean, my ex-wife could beat the final boss from the toilets, obviously in adifferent room, by pressing a single button without even watching the screen, obviously. It was so bad they had to make a second one of the same, which wasn't any better.
So honestly, I doubt any game can be as bland and boring as FF13, but hey, I never played Journey.
