I liked the base-game with the normal storymode. I think they spent way too much time adding alternate modes and characters. If they had instead spent that time on extending or enhancing the base game with its normal storymode, this would have been even better. Instead, half of what they made is pretty good and the other half is junk I have no interest in.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a masterclass in the Metroidvania formula. While Bloodstained may not reinvent the Metroidvania genre, it does something far more impressive: it refines and perfects it. Koji Igarashi attention to detail, his understanding of what made the Castlevania games so beloved, and his ability to craft a cohesive and engaging experience are all on full display here.

For fans of the genre, Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a must-play. It's a love letter to the classics, a testament to Koji Igarashi mastery, and a shining example of how to keep a beloved formula fresh and exciting.

P.s. There are people who complain about the visual style, 3D graphics, crafting system, dialogs, characters, etc. Everyone can see their own, but I have to write a few words about it:
-Bloodstained uses 3D environments, it keeps the classic 2D gameplay and sprite-based character animations. This combination may seem ambiguous. However, it's a skillful attempt to retain the familiar Symphony of the Night aesthetic while adapting it to modern features - I think it's an interesting decision.
-About Crafting: The in-depth crafting and equipment upgrade system is a key element of progression in Bloodstained. While it may seem overly complex to some players, it provides extensive opportunities for customization and experimentation with the game build.
-The narrative in Bloodstained is really minimalistic and focuses more on exploring the locations and combat system than on the unfolding storylines. Dialogs and characters may seem flat and uninvolving to players expecting a more in-depth narrative. However, this is a deliberate design choice, following in the tradition of classic Metroidvania. I don't see anything critical about it.

It is important to evaluate the game in the context of the legacy to which it seeks to pay tribute.
