Observations at the Seismic Monitoring Station
I'm starting a new thread for seismic monitoring station observations since I am myself waiting for those last few volcano related POIs.

I wanted to consolidate a few things it looks like we learned in a previous thread:

  • You have to be online to see readings at the Seismic Monitoring Station and observe volcanic activity if it's happening.
  • The volcanic activity happens the same time for everyone. Speeding up the clock in your game -- ie., changing the number of real-time minutes in an eSail day -- will not make it happen any sooner.
  • You may see debris early in an eruption. However, you can get the "Rocks and Debris" POI only when you see boulder-size rocks landing near you. Others put it this way: "You'll know it when it happens."
  • A scatter graph assembled by another user indicates eruptions occur roughly every month or two. Anecdotal evidence suggests the kind of volcanic activity that lets you claim the POIs lasts for a day or two at least.

Obviously corrections and updates are welcome.

The volcano is starting to rumble, and the lava is flowing. I grabbed the lava POI. Although it's spitting stuff out, it's not enough for the "Rocks and Debris" POI yet.

I had just dropped the starboard jib sheet when the mountain first rumbled. I thought, "Wait a sec. The jib's furled and it's a light wind. There's no way the jib is making that much noise."
I came out of the marshes this morning; a glorious morning with pretty butterflies around the NRS pontoon. Yesterday and this morning I heard noises a bit like going aground or a strong wind but plenty of depth ... now realise it was the volcano rumbling. No change at SMS from yesterday.
