PATCH: Read if you want more than 4 people in CO-OP
We had a lot of people wanting to play this game together but it only supports 4 players. So I made this patch for my friends and I, and I decided to release it as opensource so everyone else who wants more than 4 people can play with up to 8. Source code and binary releases are available.

Note: The readme also says this but everyone who wants to play together will need to apply this patch otherwise people who join after 4 players will have no name plates above their heads and may result in buggy gameplay

This probably doesn't need to be said but the patch will need to be re-applied if Green Hell is updated

Yes, as of right now 7/1/2021 the patch still works with the current version of Green Hell

Thanks for confirming. I'm a little confused as to installing this patch. I dl'ed it from the source and extracted the files. Do I need to run an executable file?

yes, run the exe file and click the button. if it can't find your install, it'll prompt for you to browse to it

Hi :) Is it still working?
Should it change the number of slots for invitation?
In my case it says it's patched but it's not changing the number of slots

Honestly I don't remember if it changes the display number or not. I don't think it does. And yes, it still works. Just make sure you and everyone who will play together uses the patch

Honestly I don't remember if it changes the display number or not. I don't think it does. And yes, it still works. Just make sure you and everyone who will play together uses the patch

sorry, but how to use this patch then? how to invite friends?

You invite them through steam or have them choose "join game" from within steam when they want to join you

Yep, the mod on nexus is the same as the github version. I make sure to keep them updated. I also verify that the existing version works with green hell every time it updates.

I'm the author of the patch and nexus mod btw

Awesome. I just got the game and have 7 online buddies I regular play games with. So looking up an 8 player mod was the first thing on my list after realizing how fun this would be for all of us.

It's hard to test as I don't have 4 other friends who are online often but what I can tell you is the patch searches for specific code to allow more than 4 players; if the patcher says it patched the game and the game still launches, it most likely still works.

With that said, if you'd like, please download and try it out, let me know if you have any issues and I'll get them fixed. Just report an issue on nexusmods or github
