Talos Summer Photoshoot

We’re thrilled to announce our latest photomode event, just in time for the peak of summer! This time, we’re embracing the warmth and joy of the season with a summer-themed challenge.

Join Yaqut, Miranda, and the rest of the crew on the Isle of the Blessed exhibition. Capture those magical summer moments and share them with us on Discord[discord.gg] and Twitter[x.com].

Showcase your creations in the specially created #photo-mode channel on our Discord. We’ve also opened a dedicated contest channel where daily winners will be announced in the #contest-winners channel.

Each day, we’ll select winners from both Discord and Twitter, so be sure to submit your entries on both platforms. To enter on Twitter, use the hashtag #TalosSummer or tag our profile @TalosPrinciple.

The Talos Principle 2 Update 2.2.0 is Live Now!

Hey everyone, we are happy to announce that patch 2.2.0 for The Talos Principle 2 is now live!
It includes technical and visual improvements as well as bug fixes and various exploit fixes.

We have also prepared a nice summer themed Photo Mode Contest that we will announce very soon, so you can try the patch and capture some awesome summer photos to share with us.

Additions and improvements

Improved HDR lighting and sky in "Orpheus Ascending" and "Isle of the Blessed".
NPCs in the “Isle of the Blessed” now speak their voiceover lines in the real world if they’re close to the player.
Image at the end of credits in the “Isle of the Blessed” will now stay on screen instead of scrolling past.
The sound option to keep sounds while in the photo mode has been changed to only keep the music playing.
Added an option to preview current gameplay in the HDR brightness calibration menu.

Engine

Frame-rate limiting now takes into account the state of frame generation.
Updated DLSS to the latest version (incl. Frame Generation).
Fixed the bug where DLSS FG would not work if switching from DLSS FG to FSR FI and back to DLSS FG.
Increased max allowed skybox texture resolution.

Bug Fixes

Fixed a number of puzzle exploits and out of bounds sequences.
Fixed the bug where the player could sometimes create driller holes in the air away from the drillable walls.
Fixed the bug where the player could teleport into the wall when doing instant gravity switch in certain situations.
Fixed the bug where the player could fall off the bridge when talking to Elmore in the “Isle of the Blessed”.
Fixed the bug where stealing the tool out of a puzzle could eventually make that tool unusable due to optimizations (and thus prevent some genuinely creative star puzzles solutions).
Fixed the bug where the player could clip through the planet mesh in the “Tidal Lock” puzzle In “The Abyss” at low FPS.
Fixed the bug where fans in “The Hexahedron” could launch the player into the wrong spot at low FPS.
Fixed the bug where items could fall through the platform carried by the player at low FPS.
Fixed the bug where a fan cover could sometimes disappear when placed near a driller hole.
Fixed the bug where the laser could pass through a drillable wall far from any hole that exists in that wall.
Fixed the bug where the laser could pass through the fence in the puzzle “Minimalism”.
Fixed the bug where “The Hard Way” achievement was not awarded if the player used the “Keep Connections” pick up key to pick up a connector which has no connections to keep.
Fixed the bug where skipping the first part of the capsule travel while using a controller would make the PDA map unusable with the controller after arriving at the destination and re-entering the capsule.
Fixed the bug where the player could fall down/get stuck in the lower part of the “Circular Oasis” level before activating the elevator beam which makes the area accessible.
Fixed the bug where the base underneath the capsule in “Lost Marshes” would not rotate with the capsule.
Fixed the bug where the player could break Talos 2 final puzzle’s structure by bringing mind transfer bodies where they should not be.
Fixed the bug where the player could not jump onto tetromino bridge pieces with different gravity spaces if one of their tetromino bridge building actions was bound to the same key as “Jump”.
Fixed navigation/usability problems inside a certain cave of a certain DLC.
Fixed a few typos in the subtitles and log entries.

Firstly, thank you so much for the amazing reception of Road to Elysium! We've loved all your reviews and posts about the DLC, and it's awesome to see you enjoying the extra campaigns. We’re really impressed by your puzzle solving skills and determination, especially when it comes to “Into the Abyss”. Congrats on cracking those!

We've also been keeping an eye on your reports on Discord and the Steam forums about any bugs and issues you ran into during your playthrough. We would like to let you know that we've addressed them in the newest patch 2.1.0. Thanks for sticking with us and for all the kind words from everyone in the community.

The Talos Principle 2 Update 2.1.0 Changelog

Orpheus Ascending

Placing connectors on top of windows in “Step by Step” is no longer possible.
Connectors in “Clockwork” should no longer fall down.
Player will no longer fall out of bounds inside easter egg cave.
Moving platform in puzzle “Hysteresis” should no longer push connectors outside of the area.
Adjusted Ladder so that the player does not stay on top of the pillar in “Hysteresis” puzzle even though he has a low FPS.
Added missing connection in puzzle “Heart of Anubis”.
Sarabhai’s number in intro and ending cutscene used to be 8 which was the wrong number. It should be 6 now.
Adjusted “Heart of Anubis” puzzle to prevent remaining possible jumps from it into the gold puzzles area.
“Ancestry” achievement progress should be saved after death or reset.

Isle of the Blessed

Updated family photo at the end of credits.
Improved water in the intro cutscene when flying over it.
Player will no longer fall down when talking to Byron and Alcatraz in front of them.
Added a fence on puzzle "Intruder" that goes over the wall so that players can't jump on it only over it. Reduced size of gravity surface in the same puzzle. Added a ladder to the puzzle to prevent softlocks

Into The Abyss

Tools should no longer get accidentally stuck when executing the final step in "The Ring".
Player can no longer enter the "Stylite" puzzle from the bottom.
Player should no longer get stuck between the wall and fence near the fan in “One Way Link”.

Other Fixes

Improved quality of water on low and medium presets.
Driller should no longer create infinite sounds when placing it a lot.
Fixed the bug where having a corrupted save file in the first non-empty base game save slot would prevent the player from accessing the DLC.
Slightly drifting controllers should no longer constantly scroll through the terminals.
Gold puzzles are now deactivated and will teleport players out of them if entered before properly unlocked.
“Booting Process” benchmark should no longer have black screen.
Fixed the issue where the game would incorrectly consider the player as being stuck while they are on a gravity surface.
Fixed defaults in the menu for FOV, background frame rate and colour blind options.
Updated DLC Credits.
Fixed incorrect first person arms appearance in Orpheus Ascending and Into The Abyss

We are extremely proud to announce that The Talos Principle 2: Road to Elysium is available now. This three-part coda delivers three individual character-driven stories about love, hope, and despair. But stories are not where things end. Oh, no! All three chapters are tailored to challenge your puzzle-solving skills in new ways. Some of them will be fun and casual, while others will undoubtedly make your heads spin.

We've been quiet here for a hot minute, but not without reason. Everyone at Croteam has been super busy creating new adventures in the world of The Talos Principle 2. This led us to Road to Elysium, a three-part expansion coming later this month that will tell you new stories and challenge your puzzle-solving skills in new and unexpected ways.

Hotfix 1.1.1 Changelog

Fixed the issue where NVidia DLSS Frame Generation was not stable on certain drivers. There are no driver restrictions on using it anymore, however, it is recommended to upgrade to 551.76 or newer.
Fixed startup auto-detection resetting video options when the driver version is changed.
Fixed text ghosting on terminals when TSR or FSR are used.
Added "bLimitOptionsForVRAM" console variable: set it to 0 for overriding limitation of certain video options based on GPU's video memory size.

It's been a while since the last update landed, but we've been hard at work combing through all of the feedback we received from you lovely people since launch. The result is today's update to the game delivering numerous gameplay improvements, tweaks, and fixes across the board.

The Talos Principle 2 Update 1.1.0 Changelog

Visual changes:

Added AMD FSR 3 (with Frame Generation).
Added water ripples.
Added extra decorations to the Lost Labs areas.
Added visual effect for locked elevator beam.
Toned down sky occlusion on some levels to avoid shimmering of DFAO effect and adjusted non-Lumen color to better match Lumen.
Reduced performance degradation when moving.
Fixed some of the ghost audio logs using incorrect models.
Fixed incorrect numbers on some of the character appearances in Photomode.
Fixed incorrect lighting on supported integrated GPUs from AMD.
Fixed the issue where Laser Beams were affecting the background when using TSR upscaling and Lumen.
Fixed a lot of instances where light was abruptly changing when not using Lumen.
Fixed a lot of shadow and AO artifacts both in Lumen and Non-Lumen configurations.
Fixed a lot of instances of premature Landscape LODing when using extreme FOV values.
Fixed a lot of instances of inconsistent pop-in of far-away structures across all levels.
Fixed “crazy-swaying” trees and grass across all levels.
Fixed visual issues with volumetric fog in the Prometheus Sequence level when GI quality is set to ultra.
Fixed an issue where long triangles on certain meshes were sometimes not rendered on AMD cards.
Various minor environment visual fixes related to crumbs, foliage distribution, missing terrain and holes in cliffs

Gameplay:

Players can now sprint when moving backwards.
Left mouse button can now consistently be used to interact with objects.
A player is no longer required to press the Use button to use the elevator beam, instead it triggers automatically upon entering.
Dialogue options can now be navigated with keyboard arrows.
Most menus can now be closed by clicking the right mouse button.
Improved Guided Jump reliability.
Posters in the Chamber of the First Companions now display translatable text when aimed.
Most of the travel sequences are now skippable as long as story events related to those travel sequences have been experienced at least once (e.g. in another playthrough).
Increased the number of last stored Dialogue Logs from 10 to 20.
Added a slider that controls the Photomode window’s opacity.
Added HUD hints when using the Gravshifter.
Fixed the bug where third-person animations and camera were not working correctly after using Fast Travel.
Fixed the issue where photomode would sometimes be invoked with the field of view being set to zero and impossible to change.
Fixed the issue where the objectives panel would appear in a puzzle if the player restarts checkpoint while being inside one.
Fixed the issue where the character rotation slider in Photomode was not accounting for changed gravity.
Fixed an issue where using keyboard or gamepad to navigate in settings menu would not play respective sounds.
Fixed QR codes in the museum being readable from the backside of their panels.
Fixed the bug where the player could softlock themselves by falling out of the elevator with the help of the Photomode.

Options:

Added controller vibration (can be switched off in Controls settings).
Terminal font size option will now affect content in palm reader terminals.
Photomode inputs can now be remapped.
Sprint toggle option now behaves as sprint lock.
Added "Player Speed" setting. Does not affect sprint speed.
Added a setting to switch audio output devices.
Added a setting to change the third person camera’s relative position behind the player.
Added a setting that allows instantly teleporting to a gravity surface, instead of smoothly transitioning to it.
Added a setting to switch camera behavior when transferring to another body.
Added a setting to change subtitles size.
Added a setting to change compass size.
Added a setting to toggle developer console.
Added video previews for motion sickness settings and image previews for color blindness settings.
Enabled ambient occlusion in high GI quality preset.
Improved accuracy of auto-detection of GPU performance.
Limited texture and shadow quality options based on graphics card video memory size.
Fixed the bug where Video Settings auto-detect would set upscaling method and/or preset incorrectly.
Fixed an issue with sRGB gamma setting not saving between game sessions.

Puzzles

Moved S3 Sphinx puzzle element to the correct location as indicated by the map.
Improved S3 Pandora secret setup.
Fixed a number of easy exploits where the player could enter a puzzle in an unintended way and/or finish the puzzle without solving it.
Fixed a number of errors related to collisions and item placements inside puzzles which were making puzzles too hard/too easy when encountered.
Fixed the bug where Avatar monuments statues didn't have proper collision, which enabled the player to target Pandora receiver from any position.
Fixed the bug where some metal fence doors wouldn’t stay open in solved puzzles after restarting the game or checkpoint.
It is no longer possible to connect devices through one side of the plasma door which had collisions set up improperly.
In E2 “Loop” puzzle it is no longer possible to place drill hole and place it on pressure plate
In N2-5 puzzle it is now possible to turn off the fan instead of jumping into it to remove the cube from bouncing fans.
It is no longer possible to connect to the emitter in puzzle N2-1 from N2-3.
It should no longer be possible to connect to blue receivers before plasma doors are open on the N2-Lost1 “Field of View” puzzle.
S2-Gold “Out of the box” cannot be cheesed by putting a gravity beam over the plasma door and jumping into it anymore.
In W1-2 It is no longer possible to place the Connector on top of the Rail Drone + Cube using a metal beam which the player could climb on.
It is no longer possible to cheese E2-Gold puzzle by simply putting Connector onto the cube.

Other:

Changed shader compression algorithm to eliminate crashes on certain system configurations.
Reworked audio engine for better surround support.
Added progress bar for shaders precaching.
Added benchmark.
