ARK question [SPOILER TAG]

Is there a purpose behind the three red items in the fourth floor under the ark? Buoy, life preserver, anchor. Seemed a bit anti-climatic after taking out the Night Terrors. I would guess that what was deposited in this fourth floor to open the room carries over to NG+. Am I missing something about the red items, or is this the end of the ARK?

So I chased down and killed all 10 Night Terrors so I could get into the room with the red objects and that's it? You just see them? Wow that was a waste of time. I'm 100% done and thought there would be a reward or something exciting at the end.
