Disabling Ubisoft Connect auto-updater??
Is there any way to disable the stupid Connect launcher's auto-update function for good?? Through hidden settings or something? It's unbelievable that after all these years the damn thing still lacks a simple option like that!

I'm sick and tired of having to go through endless uninstall-reinstall cycles and want to lock the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ launcher at a specific version and prevent it from auto patching itself ever again. If anyone could offer any advice it would be much appreciated.

Only somebody naughty that has MUCH to hide would even bother about that - let alone post about it.

Naughty, naughty, very naughty.

Hey, thanks for the advise. I totally forgot about that dead sure robust method, LOL

Anyway, the issue is resolved. I made the original post back in February when a stupid update broke several of my installations on my Win11 pc and I had to go back to my old Win7 rig for a while. Since the thing hasn't been in use for a long time, I forgot that Connect would fire up its auto-update process and mess up everything beyond repair since the latest versions no longer work on Win7.

However, I found another workaround solution for Win7: you first have to downgrade the launcher to version 140.0.10857 (dated April 2023). Before starting it, manually change its version number to the latest one in the version.txt file, which is in your Ubisoft Game Launcher directory. You can obtain the latest version number by checking the ubisoftconnect homepage for any new installers. I would recommend doing this regularly, especially if you haven't started the launcher for a couple weeks or more.

Download the connect installer to a separate location, right click the exe file without starting the installation process, select properties, then in the tab details you will see the product version number. Note the last five digits. That's the number you need to paste into the abovementioned version.txt file and save the change. Doing so will prevent the launcher from auto-updating as your old connect installation is now officially registered as being 'up to date'.

What a hilariously nonsensical post, LOL

My profile is set to friends only. Not sure why it should be of any concern to you. Steam is not a social media platform. Besides, what does it have to do with the topic of this thread?

yeah that was from quite some time ago actually when I needed to go back to Win7, lol

This method might be interesting for people who still cling to that old OS. Although theoretically, it should work on Win11 as well..

This trick still works, I just tried it on Win10 22H2. Really thank you for following up your own post and sharing the solution!

Alright, now we can safely conclude that people on older operating systems are still able to play Ubi games just fine.

No doubt this will be interesting for many in the near future when Win10 gets rotated out.
