Possibly one of the worst tutorials I've ever played. Just about 2 hours of listening to the game to tell you to plop things down. Was burnt out and gave it a day or two. Tried to do a survival mode play through and then a few scenarios. Tried to follow the instructions, but couldn't figure out why I couldn't build a concrete factory when it tells me to build one.

I think graphics are atrocious. Everything looks awful to look at when zoomed out at various levels, and some things are hard to see like power lines. Zooming all the way in you get to see your cool little survivor town, but can't really play the game this way.

Just a lot of things that turn me off from continuing with this game. I'm really glad I got it on sale, but there are so many other games of this type and genre that are much more enjoyable, easier to get into, and have a lot more to offer. I'll check out the sequel to see if that will hook me.

I wasn't a fan, the game felt aimless and unthreatening. I kept getting notices or warnings of radiation or bad things moving nearby, but nothing bad ever happened. I thought I was running low on water or food, but nothing ever happened because of it. Just felt like a peaceful town builder in a post-apocalypse scenario, when I was hoping for something as scary as Frostpunk.

This is a game I tried in EA, enjoyed it briefly but ultimately it fell a little monotonous and I hoped it would flesh out in 1.0. It never did when I came back to it. Rather than update it they put out 2 costly DLCs and now have a sequel in EA again. It feels very disheartening as I want to play the game but I already felt cheated by this game.

I hate to be that person, but it's a skill issue. If you're struggling, it's your fault, this isn't a buggy game, if you can't do something, you're doing it wrong. It has a long tutorial for a reason, there's a lot of overlapping systems, water, radiation, electricity, food, tools, clothing, beauty, entertainment, happiness, defense, building durability, worker distribution, goods distribution, storage, if you don't have a solid grasp of each of those elements eventually things will fall apart.

First, this game requires heavy micromanagement throughout, there's a balance to each element and the minute everything seems under control your population will increase and now you need more of everything to accommodate those people. Building camps instead of houses is the only way to slow down population growth in a happy settlement.

Second, it has some similarities to Frostpunk, worker distribution, research, scouts/expeditions, but this game is much more a lattice work of a large number of resources and factors that you need to manage, without an impending dooms day event. Though raids and resource requirement events will continue to get larger each season, making it harder and harder to grow.

It's not nearly as stressful, it's not nearly as difficult, and it's not nearly as good as Frostpunk, but Frospunk is a masterpiece, a 10/10. In my mind this is an 7-8/10, even after failing repeatedly and getting frustrated on my first sandbox after tutorial, I kept coming back (then learned not to build in highly irradiated areas) and I was off to the races, getting about 80% of the achievements in that next run. Sure, this game isn't going to be for everyone, but it certainly isn't a bad game.

My only note is that I played with all DLC from the beginning, Prosperity is a necessity, it's hard to imagine the game without it and it really should have just been part of the base game, Distant Places is a cool little set of side adventures, but is in no way a necessity like Prosperity. If you like city builders get it all together on sale and get lost in it for a few days like I did.

This is still obviously a work in progress however the graphics and things to do are plentiful. Your overlays help you plan your city and clean up. You have lots of interesting points surrounding you to explore and gain research from, and the satisfaction of seeing things being built, healed, greened, and your people established. What I still want is more story and character development, not huge speeches to click through but things as you go, places the characters knew to examine etc. Animals such as deer and bear returning, bobcat would be great too, rabbits, bush chickens etc. Larger projects like aquaducts etc to build a city around would be interesting. At the moment you are establishing a city and exploring while researching and it is somewhat tactical as you have to build and research certain things to keep alive.

This is a good game that i enjoy but it is effectively superseded by Endzone 2 so just buy the second game if you're wondering.
