I've also been using Etienne as my 'go to' hero. I find combining him with a 402 Boomerang does a nice job in early game. I love the free global camo at round 9.

does said camo detectiong come online before you deal with camos in alternate bloon 'rounds (the only time they're an actual issue)

Etienne's worldwide camo detection is significant support for towers without camo detection. For some maps, there aren't enough space for a village or money for a village or villages are banned. His 2nd ability can be really helpful in a pinch.

Churchill is my favorite but ultra expensive to use normally. Using Sauda/Quincy/Ben all the time does get old.

Nah, you will learn to love Ezili once you found out that the does percentage damage and just melts BADs.
Have fun with Etienne, but please do not tell me you do because of the camo detection.
If you place a village you get MIB in addition to camo and can choose a path that either boots your economy or enables absolutely broken primary towers.
