Playing this game is like drinking twice expired milk. When it first hit store shelves it was already terrible, but for some reason you bought it and let it expire again before drinking it.

What were they thinking? Suda, Grasshopper, explain yourself.

Everything to enjoy in this game is a centimeter deep. The style & presentation are this series' strong suit, but the moment that goes away you're left with bland gameplay and goofy game decisions. If you're ok with drinking expired milk as long as the logo and sticker on the bottle of milk are very cool, this might be the game for you.

The core gameplay is holding a button for light attacks, or tapping another for heavy attacks. This never changes. You get skill chips that let you use special powers that are very often bad or so unwieldy that you question if you should even be using them. Your special powers cannot hurt your co-op partner, but they do impact them and cancel anything that they were doing, including their own skill chips which then have to wait for the cooldown to reset.

The stun skill chip shoots multiple stun shots out in a wide arc, and shooting at enemies often means you shoot your own teammate fighting them. The turret often doesn't move or respond and can die after any hit the enemies or YOU land on it. Travisman takes 5-10 minutes to reset cooldown so if you mess up, you are punished hard. The spin doesn't have a cancel and enemies can knock you out of it easily. The throw skill chip often throws your own teammate. The bomb is probably the most useful because it's sticky and has a timer, so everyone can get out of the way. But you can also accidentally stick it to your own teammate.

Recoloring enemies doesn't make them new, or interesting. I somehow came across a review praising this game for variety of enemies and I want that guy fired.

Ramen shops offer a power boost and restoring your health. Toilets save the game and restore your health. Very often a ramen shop is paired next to a toilet. Why not just make the toilet offer a power boost? There's nothing unique to the ramen shops other than a jpeg you get of a ramen bowl you eat.

The Hazre - Travis Strikes Again old school VN design is cool to look at but takes way too much time. These feel like scrapped game ideas shoved into a half-baked, style-only dialogue carrier. Travis can't complain about games having too much talking and put me through... this.

Why do you have to complete about 80% of the game to unlock the two other characters who are both infinitely more interesting than Badman? Closest reason is for replayability, but I don't think this game has that function because the gameplay sucks.

There's a meta joke with one of the levels being an unfinished Unreal map. I don't think this game gets the right to make that joke.

The only saving grace this game has is, and big spoiler here: The Shadows of the Damned level. If only the rest of the game was given such care...

Everything here is surface level and unfinished. You could possibly have a good time with it, but I wouldn't aim for anything over $5.
