Are wasps still broken?
Was thinking of reinstalling this game since nothing else seems fun at the moment, but I recall wasps being impossible to do anything with on solo.

Depends on how fast you progress- assuming you get a tier 3 weapon (I like sour axe) and use smoothie buffs- you should be fine.

What was the original issue?
Depends on the difficulty as well. I still avoid them if possible since I’m solo on Whoa. Drones are still way too powerful. However I did manage to take down Wasp Queen.

back when they were first introduced they were a nifty alt to the bees, but the healer was just too broken, I would be lucky to down one wasp enough to hit it with a melee weapon, only for the drone to heal it to full with one action. and since no one in my friend group likes these types of games, I'm playing solo, and wasps were, for me, impossible to take by myself, but then learning they are story progress bound made me uninstall. if I remember I had the sour axe, the minty staff, the coaltana, and the raven(?) cross bow. I will fully admit I suck at shooters so maybe thats my issue.

The healing is still annoying- I recommend using the Sour Staff if the close range aspect is too hard when they heal
(Also you can block cancel crossbow shots to instantly waste your stamina- doing decent damage really fast)

If you’re only concerned regarding story progress the drones during the wasp queen fight are easy as they die in 3 hits of anything (hint: gas arrows). That being said if you advance into NG+ cycles they grow stronger.

not sure if its been said i havent read all the replies but you dont need to unlock the brawny bin to complete the game, if you wanna try ng+ then yeah you would have to, the easy way i managed do it, is lure one at a time and use black ox crossbow till you have the sore axe, they arent easy to kill but i dont think any of the flying bugs are fun to get rid of either

The normal wasps are fine. I like them actually. A shot that is easily blocked by a shield and then they kindly bring themselves into melee distance during their charge attack. It’s the dang drones who never come into melee range and spam heals every 5 seconds that are the problem.

OH

In that case, my statement would be
The drones don't seem to be as abundant as you're describing they previously were. Barely any Wasps get infinite heals before 3 hits destroys their future

Their numbers have never really changed. I don't think I've ever seen them without the standard 2 wasps, 1 drone per group. Exceptions to that probably exist (raids for example) but that is how you find them 99% of the time.

This is wrong. You get a 80% damage debuff if you do that.

Quote from Wiki:
"The Rough Reload effect was added to the game when they introduced the ability to block enemy attacks while holding a crossbow. The debuff's purpose is to explicitly discourage players from being able to exploit the reload timer by spamming block to instantly reload arrows."

Wasps + Spicy Staff = no wasps.

They're so easy to shoot down and go away so fast, I don't even think twice about them.
