Ranked play is pretty dead, and has been for a long, long time. It takes ages to find a game, from my experience, so it shouldn't be a surprise that competitive players end up just hopping into social to find any match at all.

well maybe if more of them went to ranked they would find matches

the reason they dont is likely due to some form of cowardice (my opinion)

because in Ranked they would be paired up with players of equal skill and not have an easy win which makes the game suck for the rest of us

It's certianly not something like being too afraid to play against equal players. That's why they're competitive players in the first place.

It's more likely that:

1. The offerings in Ranked just aren't compelling enough to keep their attention. There's really not a whole lot on offer in the Ranked playlists, certainly not as much variety as is available in social.

2. The majority of players play in social, and the player base isn't as high as it once was. As fewer and fewer people search in Ranked, the already long wait times only get even longer. So aside from hosting in the CGB, they really don't have any other option but to play Social.

As someone who's terrible at the game, loves ranked, and hates being on a team that gets roflstomped... no. They just want to be able to get a match without waiting for fifty years. Perceived lack of courage has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Problem is, now they kill the fun in social, because they ain´t taking it easy or even are to good for that small playerbase when takeing it easy. So people leave and play something else. So in respones to there gamemode diying, they end up causeing the next one to die aswell.

Let´s hope microsoft isn´t to keen on pulling the plug.

I very much doubt Microsoft is going to shut down the servers for the MCC any time soon. It's currently the only way to play these games online, and the backlash to them doing so would be pretty severe.

I just hope that we'll continue to see updates that address various issues, and implement features that many, myself included, are still waiting on. Full campaign cross-play, for example.

Nobody plays ranked. Not our fault we get matched with players who have no idea what's going on. If I see a bunch of people with the 117 tag, default emblem, or a guest on the other team it's an automatic win. Don't even have to sweat the majority of the games I play but I still end up going 32-1 just farming clueless players and their unfortunate teammates that have to carry them.

Also ranked isn't some magical solution to match with equal players. When I was able to play ranked before it pretty much felt like casual matches. Hardly anyone seems to be ranked correctly save for the absolute best players at the top. Believe me I WISH I could play against and with teams that can actually put up a fight consistently.

Don't forget the people using REWASD and XIM to get Gamepad aim assist with KB/M. I play KB/M on this game but controllers aim assist is pretty powerful. Especially in Halo 2 Classic and Reach. H4 seems to be the most balanced of the set of the two control types and Halo 3 being a slower paced game is servicable if you adapt a play style of holding angles and rely more on movement. 1v1 gun fights between the two since most are br and not long range the magnetism and aim assist on controller as a KB user makes me lose a lot of engagements since it's harder to keep the reticle tracked on an enemy.

I'm so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ mad I didn't see this before I spent the money. Waste of time and money. I knew I wasn't getting a fair play.

If it's popular enough some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ scumbag will find a way to cheat.

And children like you just cheat with them. Enjoy.

Ranked play is pretty alive in the Slayer playlist. If you search the playlist during 2PM PST to 8 PM PST, you will most likely find lobbies.

Does not matter. Rank is platform and input locked so there's no way to save it unless that is removed. Sounds like your'e the coward who cannot put the small amount of effort into getting half way good at a game. Why does it have to be easy?

i remember when 3, odst, reach, and 4 all released. miss those days of casual multiplayer. i find only custom games and campaign enjoyable. too many try hards in that who treat it like cs2, which i do play comp.

halo was never a competitive game for me and i really really miss invasion. when that first came out, chef's kiss

So what exactly is the difference between someone who's just very good who's playing casually for fun and someone "sweating"?
Are good players supposed to deliberately play poorly? Doesn't sound very fun to me.
Combat 14 Feb @ 10:30pm
soo because i've been playing halo since release on and off and acquired a skill over decades of practice you expect me to waste my time searching in a playlist that has almost 0 players in it, you expect to be good right out the gate?
We would play rank if there was anyone playing, half the time i just hop on halo to play with some old friends from yester year, trust me we would love to play rank. Competition is what made us good all those years ago. Back in the day I would purposefully try to play against people who were better then me so I could see the way they played. I would watch and get absolutely slaughtered sometimes but each time I learned more and adapted that knowledge to be able to compete and beat them.
But i guess that mindset is gone from today's gamer.
