How to easily revert back to the old Steam UI
Step 1: Locate the Steam shortcut on your computer. (It's likely on your desktop.)

Step 2: Right click on the Steam shortcut.

Step 3: In the pop-up menu click on "Properties".

Step 4: In the box next to "Target:", go to the very end of what is already entered in the box (it should end with "), and after that ending quotation mark, enter one space and then -vgui

Step 5: Click on "Apply", and then press "OK".

Step 6: Restart Steam.

EDIT: Sadly, as of now, this method has been removed by Steam, and no longer works.

I tried this out of curiosity, mostly because they broke the back button worse than it was in the beta which I was in from day1. The "update" doesnt bother me but that does does.

Steam updated and launched and went non-responsive.

Might be a Linux problem, I was able to add the argument and revert, but now the Friends client doesn't work. Says "Friends Network Unreachable". Does chat still work after UI revert on Windows?

Thanks a ton. New UI has so many bugs and basic features that are broken, I have no clue why in the world it was allowed to release in this state.
Feels like a case of some Valve employee creating busywork so that they can appear productive before their annual performance review.

Thanks! All the changes I've noticed were pretty much worthless and not worth the 3x longer startup process in my case. :spazdunno:

Thanks for the tip, it works!

For those who load Steam on a system startup:
1. Go to Task Manager > Startup > Right Click on Steam > Disable
2. Win+R > "shell:startup" > Enter > Copy Steam shortcut with -vgui parameter to that folder
