Vis Unita Maior Nunc et Semper

The 1° Batalhão de Caçadores (English: 1st Batallion of Caçadores) was formed in October 1808 by the Portuguese Army. It was formerly known as the Regimento de Voluntários de Portalegre (English: Voluntary Regiment of Portalegre), which was a militia regiment formed by the Provisional Junta. The Caçadores batallions were organized with a general staff, 4 companies of light infantry and 1 company of riflemen, which in total was a force of 628 soldiers. In 1809 it was incorporated into the 2nd Brigade of the British Light Division, where the 1/52nd, 2/95th and 17° Regimento de Infantaria was incorporated too. The battalion fought nearly in all the big battles of the Peninsular War along with the Light Division, from Portugal to France.


We are an international unit, many of us are from Portugal for obvious reasons, but we have people from all over the world, specially from Europe. In-game we will tend to play as Light Infantry or Riflemen, but if many want to play with Line Infantry we will do that of course. Some general "rules" of the unit are that we are all here to have fun. We can mess about outside events, but when in events we take it seriously. We won't allow any trolling in events! We are a community, but you can also treat like a family - there needs to be room for everyone. We strive to be as historical accurate as possible. Therefore we will start with ranks fit for a Company, if we are lucky to grow bigger the ranks will adapt to it.
