Tonight's episode: "Where No Man Has Gone Before." This is the second pilot for the series, produced in 1965 after the first pilot (the one with Captain Pike) was rejected by NBC. And yet, oddly, it was the THIRD episode to actually be aired. (Boy, American TV execs really didn't care about story continuity back then!)
Here, we're introduced to Kirk, Scotty, and Sulu for the first time - and Spock for...well, the second time, technically!

A couple of days ago I posted a teaser that I was working on a very special mod project for Star Trek Online. I had planned on releasing my 1.0 version of it this evening, and as I was preparing to do so, I heard about the very sad news of Nichelle Nichols' passing today.
She was such a major force for civil liberty, social justice, and equality in the U.S., and she will be truly missed. She was a prime example of how Star Trek painted a picture of what our world(s) could look like.
While it's a sad day for many of us Star Trek fans, it feels somehow fitting that I at least have a chance to release this, and maybe - just maybe - make someone somewhere out there just a little bit happier.
