I wanna also drop this album which i found by pure chance a while back. There's some really amazing instrumentation to be found here coupled with a really unique vocal delivery. Hope people get to enjoy this as much as I did! ^^

I have never heard of that genre before... you can for sure list some... If its not a problem you can help me out in potentially getting into that genre more by listing one that you think is accessible for a noob/telling of the genre as a whole, your favorite, and then the hidden gem... unless they're all hidden gems than skip that one. lol
It might not be everyone's cup of tea vocally or musically but I think everyone will at least leave interested cuz its definitely not boring. I'm putting your album on now tho... seems they both came out in '06! o,o Coincidence!?!?

I'll give that a listen tomorrow Yannis! Admittedly, doesn't initially sound up my alley but, who knows... Did you give Freak Neil Inc a listen yet? I'm curious to hear what you think. I got done listening to Warning Watching from a Distance... Its hard to find any fault in the album and I actually like the guys vocals but I think it was a bit to monotonous for me... very one note start to finish. So, more of a singles band for me.
Also, I should of specified myself what I mean by hidden gems in terms of view count. Unfortunately that slipped my mind. I figure I ask you guys.. what would be the view cut off for a "hidden gem" in your guys opinion? Just out of curiosity...cuz I can definitely suggest some more but, is something with 100k likstens considered "hidden" still?? Idk until a concensus is formed. For now I'll stick some more stuff that is in the 4 digit range cuz there's no damn way that ain't hidden lol
First, suggestion is related to what started my whole journey here with this Metal group... Ironically this also isn't metal but its the aforementioned "side project" of Scott Rockenfield from my other post. Albums called "Hells Canyon" by "Rockenfield/Speer" its all instrumental so beware of that fact if that's a turn off.
Second, "The Upheaval" by "Throes of Sanity" The singer sounds like Geddy Lee so if that sounds unappealing to you might wanna skip these guys.
Not typically into Power Metal but "Jesters Tears" - "Perception" is good. Power metal very much in the same vein as Avantasia.
A little Wild Card pick. "Stark Naked" - "Stark Naked" this is more Proto-Metal than full fledged Metal from 1971 and at times he can sound like Billy Joel but guys.. Trust ME! This is really good! If your a fan of Early Maiden (or maybe UFO) go listen to the song "Look Again" by them and tell me that you couldn't see Maiden doing something like that
with that long jam section either stripped down or made heavier and take out the organ & add another guitar boom! Got a Maiden song.
Lastly, some good Thrash Albums. First, Both "Wicked Maraya" albums specifically "Cycles" great album! Sounds to me like Metallica meets Crimson Glory... & "Halcyon Way" "IndroctiNation" all 3 are really good underrated...HIDDEN Thrash Albums.
I'll stop there for now... I don't want to overwhelm with word vomit. xD
Sadly I haven't had the chance to check it out just yet. Managing your hobbies during weekdays can be especially hard, so there's only so much time for music..BUT now that you've so kindly reminded me I'll be more than happy to listen to one of their albums while I'm lying in my bed 😴
I'm glad that you liked "Watching from a Distance". Patrick Walker's voice is really something special. I think the fact that you found it to be a tad monotonous is totally understandable. Most Doomy bands tend to do this where certain parts of the songs stretch out for long periods and feels like you're listening it on repeat xD Considering the view count I think 100k views is fine popularity-wise. I mean songs that run in the millions have probably already been heard by most people, but I don't really mind.
I feel like "Jester's Tears" will be the first one to look up from your suggestions since I always had an itch to experiment with Power metal.
Also I'm leaning towards checking out some Iron Maiden stuff due to seeing many people posting about them on the group.
No no please don't. I finally found a person who can listen to me rambling without passing out from boredom..we can be word vomit buddies!! Ahem..my socially awkward tirade aside what im trying to say is that i like reading what you post and I think the fact you write so much stuff just reflects your passion for music. I admire you for that!
Oh I did! I can see why you listened to it 3 times already! Especially the first and last track! I love the drumming on those and the production is great to for a demo... shame they didn't take off... I would be curious to hear from a native speaker what shes actually saying but maybe its best idk... xD That was great regardless.
Take your time but do remember to check back in!
I don't think its the length per se because I can listen to 30+ minute tracks and be hooked I think it was just some of those songs were to long without enough dynamics happening for me regardless still was cool! I'm going to have to listen to it again in the future anyway cuz I forgot to add it to a playlist. xD
Sounds reasonable to me! 100k-ish and below currently constitutes hidden! I haven't gave Jesters Tears a listen myself in a while but knowing myself ...I don't like the overuse of always being up tempo and rapid double kick drumming in power metal... So, that record likely doesn't do that and regarding Maiden... I wouldn't consider myself a huge Maiden "fan" but I like there stuff + they're the granddaddies... you can see where I stand on Moogals recent post.. c:
xD Ditto and thank you! How about this? To lessen the amount of words and reduce the need of TLDR posts... I'll do what I did above....You send me a song and I'll attempt to quadruple it!
Turns out "Characters" which was surprisingly their single and only ever released album (similar to Mater Deva as seen before xD) was a really unique listen. At first they reminded me of "Mr Bungle" if your familiar with them as they too incorporated very psychedelic sounding ambience. Later in the record they seemed to get even more jazzy and blues-like if that makes sense how im describing it. Then again in other songs like "Bulldozer Blues"

which was by far my favourite in the album, they got more aggressive and heavy! Concluding i believe this band has a very experimental character to them and the vocalist is really versatile and able to adapt in each an every song accordingly. I very very much enjoyed this and thank you for introducing it to me ^^
Sorry but i can't seem to undestand what you are trying to say. I think it's due to me not being a native speaker or coz of my chicken brain xD Eaither way please don't try to explain it i'm gonna look more stupid and juste waste your time ;-;
Yup! I think that's likely due to the group being composed of people from much larger bands/projects so that comes first for them and I see we agree on the Mr.Bungle comparison...I mean, I'm not "familiar" with them as I've only heard the debut onceI need to remedy that, but, I hear it too(just axe the humor) Also, the jazz influences are there and likely coming from Sean Malone with that fretless bass hes playing. It just lends to that sound. If I had to choose a favorite which is hard because, I like the whole thing but, my standouts are; I Understand, Talking Chair, or Absence as my favorite but if I wanted to do a lil cheeky pick it could be the 2 before Bulldozer Blues as that's essentially one track. I will pick the cheeky option!
We've been understanding each other perfectly so far..you're no chicken brain! It was honestly an abortion of a comment.. I apparently dont know how to maths good. xD I won't explain it to you, but you'll pick up on what I was getting at after a few more suggestion pop up...guaranteed!
No problem, they definitely are and thank you for taken the time to give it a listen! Super cool as always!

Anyway, I have found a great hidden album...that I strongly urge people to give a shot! The first song gave me chills up and down and by the 3rd song nearly brought me to tears, and strangely enough is also about a mental illness...specifically dementia.
I read (thru a review) that they are similar to Opeth... I can't speak on the trueness of that statement since I didn't listen to Opeth yet, but, I'm taking his word for it. For me, this could easily be among my Top Albums all time... Rock & Metal! Amazingly, its all done by 1 guy (Chris Hathcock) of whom I will definitely be checking out anything hes associated with in the future.
The album is "The Oubliette" & the band is "The Reticent." Check it out! Especially if you've known or know someone struggling with dementia... since, I'd imagine you're hyper sensitive/sympathetic to the characters/subject matter in the album and if so, my condolences...I send my internet hugs c: but this album should give you a good needed cry. <3 plus if you like Opeth... I can't imagine you NOT liking this album..it could become your favorite!
Screw the other album I sent...this one is what that was wanting to be... Jazz stylings and all! (No fretless bass though)

Thanks for the suggestions man! I'm gonna slap on the Gevurah album after this Votum album today. Now I must quadruple this...
Here we go!
1. Enochian Theory - Life and all it Entails (for fans of Porcupine Tree)
2. Voltz - Knights Fall (for fans of UFO)
3. Joseph Magazine - Night of the Red Sky (be ware its an instrumental album)
4. Any of the Sieges Even Albums my favorite is "The Art of Navigating by the Stars" but the earlier stuff is thrashier with a different German Singer
5. Arch of Hell - One Day (One of the first albums I've heard where I actually didn't mind the growls...albeit sometimes they just didn't fit...and some clean vocals would have been better but still really good though.)
6. Aeon Zen - Transversal (from the original singer of Seventh Wonder before Tommy Karevik..its a short 30min concept album...AWESOME!)
7. Toe Hider - Quit Forever? (He's a total chameleon and not everything he does is metal...he even attempted country, but, this is the most metal one I heard so far.)
8. Lalu - Oniric Metal (This is also their most Metal album they're now more prog rock)
9. Ankh / Jelonek (If you like violin you got to check out any of Jeloneks work)
10. Abigails Ghost - Black Plastic Sun (Again if you like Violin...not as unique as Jelonek or Ankh though more cut from the DT cloth)
11. Risk - Ratman (Totally epic album cover and is going to be in my next batch of cool album covers... I say at least listen to the 10 minute track)
12. Ynis Vitrin - The Sad Art of Smiling (Benhur Lima has an amazing voice...from Brazil)
13. Lizzy Borden - Masters of Disguise (about as sophisticated as Hair Metal can get via symphonic elements)
14. Balance of Power - Perfect Balance (sounds to me like they somehow combined AoR and Metal on certain tracks to have a unique sound..like the choruses are AoR and the sound is Metal super catchy stuff)
15. Gotham City - The Unknown (typical NWOBHM but i liek et! c:)
16. Andy Winter - Incomprehensible (iirc this was experimental stuff... but not so much that its off-putting to me.. If you like this you might also like the Age of Silence albums).
17. Dalis Dilema - Manifesto for Futurism (very much in the same vein as DT)
18. Votum - Harvest Moon (I know this is kind of a cheat cuz I posted about it already but I really like it! The production is top notch and the song "Numb" is just simply beautiful)
19. Demi Aura & Hollowstone - The Rite of Existance (My dad introduced me to these two because the singer in the band was a lil baby when my Dad was dating her mom..)
20. WILDCARD: Advent Horizon & Blind Ego (This might be a wildcard because I think they were more rock then metal but IDK you guys can be the judge on that)
I had to keep my word! xD Likely not going to be able to do that again...but yeah definitely check out The Oubilette and if I can potentially reformat the title/description to be more fitting I can do that but then again mebbe not lol
I don't know who there influences are but, I feel like I hear Zeppelin on track 2 a bit, Megadeth throughout especially on the Opener and Closer, and some Scorpions + the singer sounds and (kinda looks like Anne Wilson of Heart) except you know obviously harsher...cuz thrash.
I don't know why the guys from DT didn't try to incorporate them in any of the songs they did... I mean I know they're 2 completely different bands, but, still it would of been cool! Maybe they can remedy that now and maybe even get their kids involved too! Prolly, not tho.. The kids likely don't want to and the girls haven't done anything in a long time. At least based off the Archives at least.
So, if any of that intrigues you then give it a listen & if you know anymore Female Led Thrash bands I would LOVE to hear some more! Cuz I liked dat and I want more! cool album cover too
I stumbled upon this band by pure chance, but to be honest i think im in love with them. Some really captivating riffs and melodic ambience to be found here. The vocals aren't spectacular but i think they really fit the mood of this release. Highly recommend this
Another demo I see.... That'll go on next! I've been listening to a lot of Kate Bush recently because I constantly hear people cite her... So, I'm listening to that rn. I took the plunge this past week and man I love her but I'm on the last 2 albums..."Aerial" & "50 words for Snow" 2 of her longest albums & both concept albums.. What a way to end a career! I still maintain that Runnning Up That Hill is a garbage song and the weakest on the album but what do I know its got 1.1 billion plays...
