cd projekt red is truely unmatched

if this games gameplay were better it would undoubtedly be the best game ive ever played. this game has better overall story, characters, memorability, and just a generally superior narrative. But, the one thing it lacks are the impact in endings to cyberpunk

the best part about this game by far, which this game is so amazing that's truly saying something, are the atmosphere and immersion. i can't even describe the feeling of this game, but you already probably know what im talking about. the most important part of that in my opinion is the soundtrack, which doesn't have any competition for being the greatest of all time

ciri is tied with songbird for being my favorite character of all time regardless of game. but so many characters are so great. triss, yennifer, zoltan, the other witchers, shani, regis, almost all of them are so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. the moment i was hooked by this game was when i first did the romance for triss, i couldnt tell you why but that quest basically made me go from half-forcing myself to play the game to full out spending all of my free-time playing. sadly enough i ended up ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ up all the romances and was left entirely alone in the end! i wont go into further detail just because of spoilers but yeah that was pretty rough

one small thing i want to add, cd projekt red so far is 2/2 in making phenomenal female characters, i cant think of a single one i disliked. both cyberpunk and this game do an incredible job of this, and i am extremely excited for witcher 4 because of it (people who complain about the trailer having too many girls are either incredibly ignorant or havent played a cd projekt red game before)

this game somehow both succeeds and fails by having an emotionless husk as a main charracter. because hes emotionless its hard to feel empathetic witha alot of decisions. but there are moments when there are emotions and holy ♥♥♥♥ those are so heartbreaking. my favorite parts of the game are the little bits of emotion you can sense in geralt. i kind of loved this part of the game but im also extremely excited for us to have the exact opposite of a character in ciri for witcher 4

all in all this game firmly places itself as my second favorite game ever at a 9.7/10 (edit: first favorite game ever, 10/10, unbelievable). my current ranking would be

played through it again, this game is perfect, beyond perfect, i cant give words to describe how perfect this damn game is. the only possible thing that would make this game better would be if it had a phantom liberty tier of ending, which it isnt even far off

there is not a single game i could ever recommend more than playing this masterpiece

probably the best game ive ever played, witcher 3 has made me value certain aspects worse than before but man is this game still so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good


the most impactful story ive ever played through, i cant think of a game that comes close even
one of the only games ive ever played that i havent come away with a certain character that i dislike or a certain moment even

the only thing that i can compare to the ending sequence i got is the end of cayde-6 from destiny, the two being very similar yet entirely different, both left me essentially speechless. the only difference between the two was that destiny was an 11 year long journey for me, i bought cyberpunk less than a week ago

the phenomenal story is not the only good part of the game however:
the game play and gunplay are really good in my opinion, they arent on the level of borderlands 3 or destiny's gunplay but definitely higher than that of fallout 4 (i really enjoy fallout 4's btw)

the game also looks incredible and seems very well optimized with how much is going on

i feel like there is much more to say about how great the game is but i cannot think of anything else

edit:
i just beat phantom liberty, i was ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annihilated by that dlc man, is the closest thing to perfection possible

there are endings ive come back to in the base game and dlc that even in my fourth or fifth time playing through them still make me cry.

the only bad thing about this game is that im sad that i don't think anything will ever match its level, there is nothing for me to look forward to besides a sequel that likely wont come out for another 5 years

edit 2:
played witcher 3, this game is no longer my favorite of all time but this game made me fall in love with incredibly deep worlds and stories. also the effect the endings of the main game and dlc had on me i don't think will ever be matched. this game is more than deserving of its rating even if witcher 3 is better.

most importantly there are now things for me to be excited for in both witcher 4 and dawnbreaker. cd projekt red is at a level that is truely unmatched, i would pay so much just to play the both of these games the first time
