The branches and ways to complete quests are honestly really good. I saw 4 people on twitch finish a quest in 4 different ways. All differently than I beat the quest. I'm honestly astonished. I'm sitting there watching someone complete a quest in a manner I'd never do being like, that's too stupid to work. But then it works and there's a cutscene for it being done in that stupid way that was differently than my own.

The branches and ways to complete quests are as imaginative as Disco Elysium. For instance, someone would fail a dice and get into combat and then be like, no I'll reload and just pass the dice. Then they'd go on thinking, it was just a talk your way out or fight your way out route. But no. Larian does things like losing that fight would have you with a cutscence when your character ends up jailed somewhere instead of just game over. The Dungeon master can't let the players die right? Has to come up with a way to keep the game going. The people that just keep reloading to pass dice have no idea how good this game really is. I'm super excited to replay this game in as many ways as I can think of.

It's not as good as the first one. I'd even say that Afterparty is better than this one in uniqueness and capturing my interest. The puzzles in this one were actually better than the first one though, but still not difficult. I guess because I've played the first one this one didn't have as much mystery to it. It did capture the spooky feeling that the first one had. The conversations are also just as interesting as any game they've created.

I leave a recommend for this game because it does bring closure from the first game. I wouldn't want any more Oxenfree games, but if they want to have another game in the same universe that's not 'Oxenfree' I'm down to see what kind of supernatural things they can come up with. A good improvement is how conversations continue even when moving to a different map. I'm tired of the tuning mechanic however.

Something I miss from previous games is multiperson conversations. I like that kind of structure even though it probably is hard and adds up dialog trees.

The first game had me playing it again and again, but Oxenfree 2 doesn't really make me feel liking going back in immediately even to see different outcomes and choices.

Played and beat the first one before playing this one. I have to say they improved many things in quality of life from the first one. When you open a treasure chest you can walk through it. You can also see what treasure chests are trapped or not. Even if it's trapped, any fights you have rewards you with a great amount of xp compared to the first game which just had you fight a normal monster.

But sadly there was something I just didn't like about this one that made me leave a no for recommend. Grinding was much worse in this one than the first game. The first game I could adjust the sound just the way I liked, turn on auto battle, and then listen and watch something else while I grinded. In this one for some odd reason I have to turn off sound completely or else I get a large glaring alarm every time a battle starts in my ears. Is that sound connected to sfx? NO. It's connected to voice for whatever reason. Also, I had plenty of potions and mana potions to not care about anything in the first game. In this 2nd game, I'm at the end of the game and broke. Like really? I can't afford to have the max potions and mana to recover and just relax.

Boss fights can get really annoying too with the final bosses. I remember a boss being able to attack me 4 times before I could do anything. All aoe attacks. Every time that happened I would die. Very annoying. Using an item is the fastest action you can take in the game. The boss would attack. I would heal up. The boss would attack. I would heal up. The boss would attack I would heal up. AND FINALLY I have 2 people that can go back to back. I attack with one, heal with the other, and the boss would attack and repeat until boss dead. That was not fun at all. It was overly tedious and time consuming compared to the first game.

I didn't find any of the girls as interesting this time compared to the first game. The only interesting girl in this game was not even one of the maidens. It was a side character.

When you look at an object or person you love, your pupil size increases. This is the most useful information I learned playing this game.

Overall, I like the concept of the game. It's really grindy however. I'd suggest watching the anime over playing the game if you don't like grinding. If you like the aspect of each unit consisting of multiple people the game The Last Remnant did something similar. (OH no. The Last Remnant was removed from steam. I think it's on switch though.)

If you like dub voice actors, they managed to get the ones you normally hear in funimation anime often. I recognized all of them. As far as japanese voice actors, I don't actually know many of them. Probably a generic japanese voice actor experience.

This game is really good.

I really liked how progression in the game was. Starting off weak and then getting gold to buy upgrades for future runs. Unlocking new weapons, new stuff, new levels. The feeling of getting stronger and stronger really lasts in this game. It was a really good buy.

Going from surviving 10 minutes in a level to 15 minutes and 20 minutes and then 28 minutes really gives a feeling of elation. The Eureka moments just kept coming. Even after getting the achievements and filling out the list, there are still secrets upon secrets in the game.

Map staring simulator just got a whole lot visually better. If you like staring at a map of Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, AND India this is THE game for your eyes to stare at as much as they possible can. Enjoy.

Early Access Review
It's a unique game. I haven't played anything with ants in it before. Seems nice. Reminded me of watching a documentary during the tutorial levels.

This game is staring at a map for hours and hours. If that isn't fun I don't know what to tell you.
