As of 2020, its the best VR game without question.

Nothing comes close to the quality of HLA.

Two classic RTS games that still hold up today.

Its the same game, but it now has a bunch of modern RTS quality-of-life improvements. You can zoom in and out on the battlefield, you can hold shift to add units to your selection, extensive hotkey support, unit queueing, modern-style mouse control scheme, and so on. Its packed with the single player campaign, multiplayer, expansion missions, consoles missions, secret missions, dinosaur/ant missions, and mod support (essentially unlimited content).

The remastering of the sprites look fantastic; I'm happy to see they retain their original soul. You can swap between the original and remastered sprites with the click of a button. I'm kinda surprised by how low-res the sprite originally were. It's not how I remembered them.

And of course, the remastered soundtrack sounds fantastic as well.

FMVs look kinda meh, but I do understand its the best they can do without the original uncompressed source material. I kinda wish they recreated the 3D rendered FMVs the same way they did with the "intro installation sequence". While its a huge improvement, the FMVs just don't meet the quality of the rest of the game unfortunately.

Great buy. Would purchase at full price.

One of the best turn-based strategy games out there. Endless hours can be lost playing just the base game. Adding WotC and mods brings it the a different level.

Early Access Review
Amazing. Soulful. Magnificent.

Crowbar Collective takes everything great from the source material and expands on it, while also adding their own original contributions. All of their new additions felt seemless. The gameplay has been polished to a mirror shine (even if there are still bugs). At this moment, Black Mesa is my favorite Half-Life game.

BTW, it's a long campaign. Well worth the $20 asking price.

Screwed up my PC. Luckily it fixed itself with an old System Restore Point. I don't recommend.

Great game to muck around with friends.

While its neat to play through the HL campaign, it isn't actually fun.

I'd recommend the maps built specifically for Sven.

This is an awesome mod by a very talented designer, Adam Foster, who now works at Valve. While linear it feels very open. Enemy engagments feel as if they can happen at any moment instead of feeling like the player simply activated a trigger. The level design is some of the most beautiful I have seen in mod. This is what you would call an "anti-mod", no new assets were created to make it. Foster instead uses existing HL2 assets in new and interesting ways.

If you own Half-Life 1, you can also play one of his older mods, Someplace Else. It is very good as well.
