Not recommended as of now, could change to recommended if next update is good though.

Pros :-
1. Its a graphics overhaul of classic Insurgency.
2. UE4 so modding and steam workshop would be available once the devs make it available....
3. Sound and music guys did a good job, its better than any army sim game available out there.

Cons :-
1. It's literally a UE4 version of Insurgency (source) gunplay + Day of Infamy's Commander and Radio (air support) feature. There is pretty much nothing else new addition to this.
2. Its been 2 months since release and there is no major update/fix so far.
3. Visual bugs = Hands disappearing/ gun just levitating in air, gun stuck in door, teammates shown falling through ground in spectator mode, smoke texture is horrible, screen just becomes dark all of a sudden even in open area.
4. Technical bugs = Exclusive fullscreen doesn't work, game is always launched in borderless fullscreen despite different settings, Loadout sometimes doesn't preview the cosmetics properly.
5. There are far more interesting games than sandstorm at the same price. In short, the game is costly just for a graphic overhaul from source engine to UE4.

I am not going to complain about optimization, since I have a trash PC with 750TI, and I pretty much play with all low settings to squeeze out the every bit of FPS I can get. But I have seen people complaining about optimization even with high end rigs, so there's that....

I bought this during early access and trusted in devs since the previous Insurgency was great. They did everything they can out of source engine in previous game. Sandstorm...I am not really feeling it. As I said above it is just a UE4 version of Insurgency + DOI as of now.
I have tried to report bugs, drop some suggestions to make the game more unique than previous version, but it just goes un-noticed. If you report bugs on Official discord of NWI, they tell you to submit on forum. If you report a bug on forum, no one responds to it, forum is just a wasteland, no one reads it.
I tried to refund this game but it was denied, so I am stuck with a incomplete game, with no idea if there's ever gonna be an interesting update to it.

If any of Devs are reading this, here are some suggestions :-
1. Add some additional features to the base game, I don't just want it to be a graphic overhaul.
2. Breach and Clear style of maps, I mean closed area maps.
3. Better AI, shooting the AI from behind shouldn't make them instantly turn 180 degree no scope 1 shot us, that's not really a good coding, AI sometimes just goes instaprone 1 shot, meanwhile it takes players time between prone and shooting after that. Make it a bit realistic pls...
4. Interchangeable scopes in battle, for example, Holo sight 2X is just another scope on the holo 1x, players should be able to switch the 2X zoom on or off. I believe this is a thing in some classes of Rainbow six siege.
5. Let players adjust the scope of sniper rifles, I mean come on, its a military sim...
6. Please make the mod workshop available ASAP, otherwise the game is just gonna be dead on arrival...

First impressions so far :-
1. Game launches in low resolution instead of native.
2. When game is in fullscreen mode, cursor is not visible.
3. There is no Class description in character creation.
4. Display settings are same as old Defiance...LIMITED....

HOW IS THIS EVEN A REMASTERED VERSION?
Its just same old game with addition of 4 classes...and I can't even use old defiance character on this.... ITS JUST A FRESH START.....I DON'T SEE ANYTHING REMASTERED....

Pros :-
1. You don't need high end PC for this, my 750 ti can run this on 40-50 fps during battles.
2. Has variety of classes like Team fortress 2.
3. Air combat is smooth but hard to master, the way it should be.
4. Playerbase is still alive after so many years.

Cons:-
1. No Asian servers. Seriously! I had no FPS issue, but the lag was always there, even out of combat area.
2. Microtransactions, Premium membership rewards aren't just customization, they affect gameplay.
3. Base building system which no one give a crap about.
4. Did I mention microtransactions?

+pros :
Realistic WW sim
Cheaper than battlefield 1
Item drops you can either use or sell on steam market
Interesting variety of classes

-cons :
game crashes frequently even if it is out of early access
AI in co-op is buggy as hell
Hit reg is bugged
with realism there are some cons ( too much noise, cam shake during artillery )
Audio settings won't be saved, it resets to 100, so can't even use headphones during the game

TLDR : Its a degraded clone of Insurgency. Don't waste your money on this, buy Insurgency instead.

Update :- Insurgency still have 2k+ more players than Day of Infamy despite the sale

Its not F2P game anymore when you have to buy revives with ingame currency (energy).
Pros:
+ Family friendly
+ Controller support
+ Elemental damage system
+ well designed maps/platform
+ There are 2 ways to play the game, simple one being going all normal dmg weapons which kids can understand easily, and other way is understanding elemental system + enemy elemental resistance/ vulnerability which could take some time to get used to.
+ The game is not dead as people say, there are still enough people playing it, the game was released 2011, ofcourse it has to die sometime.

Cons:
- Asian server not available
- Enemies are not balanced when playing solo (it is fixed on 4 player difficulty, it doesn't change when only 1 player is available). In short, you can't play this game solo.
- More grind = less fun, for example: Orbs of Alchemy droprate is horrible (I am not against the grind system, but in this game its not balanced).
- You have to buy revives with ingame currency. Thats a big no for a F2P game. Warframe used to have this system, they removed it and added xp loss + 4 revives system, which everybody liked. In spiral knights you loose ingame currency + xp/heat, so its just useless. Want to revive teammates? yeah you have to use the ingame currency for that.
