I never gave this a chance back in the day. Perhaps it was far beyond its time and the linear aspect of the game put me off.

However, playing it again years later I'm blown away not only by the graphics, story line and epic set of characters but I'm impressed by the battle system (something I hated when it came out).

This game is quite addictive once it gets going and I put a little bit more effort into learning what was going on! Final Fantasy games are often a victim of what the community wants and we don't necessarily judge each new game on their own merits.

Well done Square - I own this game on 3 different mediums but this version is the first one that held m attention.

This game is excellent - a brilliant concept and highly enjoyable.

There are balancing issues and it needs some improvements/expansion but it has so much potential. Hopefully Capcom look into how to expand this concept in the future as it is truly brilliant. Matchmaking issues seem to be fixed - I wait a matter of a couple of minutes for a game.

The issues to fix:
Matchmaking with similar skill levels
Expansion of maps and style of game (all maps have same objective)
A better balancing system or dynamic balancing (game responds) so that most games feel close in terms of who wins
You either stomp or get stomped

This game is an absolute, near-perfect masterpiece. A lot faster paced than 2Remake which isn't a bad thing - there's little time to pause and I only found time to explore the Hospital in any kind of depth on my first run. I'm going to find everything on a second play-through though. I thoroughly enjoyed this game - it was a faithful retelling with the same story elements but updated/improved many aspects. There were no weaker elements to the scenario areas like the Sewers in RE2.

Good points:
Excellent story
Brilliant update
Equally fun and terrifying
Engaging / beautiful areas - an improvement on RE2 which only had the RPD as an interesting area
Glorious graphics
Characters are likeable
Bosses an improvement on RE2
Hunters are fricking awesome
Pre-ordered and played with Jill's classic outfit


Bad points:
Whilst bosses are improved and the boss cut scenes are amazing, the bosses are still a bit clunky and dull
Misses certain areas of the original such as Clock-tower and Graveyard
Feels frenetic in parts - would have liked time to slow things down and explore like in RE2 - maybe I can fix this on 2nd playthrough
Nemesis doesn't stalk you as much as I'd like - he felt somewhat missing in the early stages - this is probably because he is too difficult to evade and so they've taken him out
Still not sure about how Nemesis looks


Overall a very enjoyable experience (took me about the same time to complete as RE2 so I wasn't worried about length here). I was a huge fan of the original but... it always felt a bit like it was thrown together and as inferior in every way to RE2. In my opinion this improves the original in, almost, every way.

A monumentally epic game. In some parts it is truly amazing. The storyline in this is absolutely brilliant with some moments that will make you shout out loud in shock. I think it's even better than the first one with some of the slower, duller bits taken out. Get this now!

I highly recommend this game. The only problem I have is that they need to release the next episode instantly. This game is extremely well done and the interactions between characters carries incredible weight in the story. I found myself incredibly torn when answering questions or making decisions as I knew this could have a huge bearing upon the story. The story fits into the Game of Thrones canon seamlessly and you find all the characters believable. Buy and download this now!
