ORIGINAL REVIEW
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Game itself is good, and we all know it's good for those who decided to watch it as a film (non PS4 owners). I was really excited to finally play it, but imagine my disappointment when I found that the optimization for it was done by a dyslexic lizard with one good arm. Even Dishonored 2 ran better than this game on release, and I remember everyone complaining about it. To put it into perspective, when Dishonored 2 did come out I could run it on max settings with the worst it ever dropping to being ~35 fps. This game is lucky to reach that on MINIMUM settings for more than 2 seconds in the main menu, and I've upgraded my PC since Dishonored 2 came out. Cannot recommend in it's current state, although this may change if they patch it. That said, releasing a quite literally unplayable game is a bit scummy on the part of the devs.

TL;DR: A picture perfect game, and you're gonna see those pictures one frame at a time.

EDIT: Oh by the way, after you quit this game it stays running in the background leaching on your memory like some kind of digital tape worm.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT 2: So, the 1.01 patch is out, and many of the issues are fixed. Now, it still stutters, and my average ranges from 35-40, which will be a deal breaker for many people. However, the devs are making an effort to fix it, even going on twitter and seeing the issues people compiled, which I can respect. I also learned that they outsourced the optimization of this game to a third party, which explains a lot. Changing the graphics settings from ultra to minimal doesn't really effect the frame rate, so the remaining issues are optimization ones. It should be noted that the game no longer makes my computer fan sound like it wants to hang itself.
At this point, the game is very playable, so I don't see an issue with changing my review to reflect that. I imagine it will only get better from here, as the update said that it fixed very little of the issues and there is much work to be done.

Great game, the only issue I have with it is it needs to be optimized. If I'm getting 25 fps with my overclocked 1080, you know there's an issue.

Unlike most survival games, this one gives you something to care about other than yourself. Most survival games just need you to watch out for your own stats, but here you need to make sure to take care of your dogs too. I like that aspect, it makes it more difficult (although granted not by much at this point in the game). I'm really looking forward to seeing this game develop.

Let me start off by saying that this is not a perfect game. There were some bugs that I encountered (which were minimal), and some people will have issue with the controls (although I personally did not). Also, if you haven't heard yet, the game is rather short.

That being said, this is one of the best indie games I've ever played. The puzzles are challenging which may turn some people off the game, but those people aren't the target audience. If you're a fan of portal, you'll probably enjoy this game. The atmosphere that the game sets is is a perfect middle ground between eerie and disturbing, and in some parts actually had me scared of a jumpscare even though nothing happened. The closest thing I can remember that is similar to the atmosphere of this game is visiting Vault 106 in Fallout 3, where you can see the decay and gore that has spread through a place that was once normal. That place freaked me out too, call me sensitive if you will.

All in all, I definitely recommend this game. If you feel that the fact that it's short makes it not worth the price, wait till it's on sale; but make sure you get it at some point. Kudos to the creators of this fine game, I can't wait untill you make the next episode!

Truthfully I never really liked Terreria, it bored me. So when I was told to get this game, I hesitated. When I finally got it, it became one of my favourite games ever. If you're hesitating now, don't. Get it, you won't regret it.
