One of my all time favorites... it can feel unfair when you start playing, but as you get the hang of it, it becomes fun... but be aware that there is a lot of frustration in between, so if you do not have patience, probably not the best game for you... ...

Ever wanted to shoot cowboys? or even like the old Wild West time period? or like first person shooters? This is one of those games that usually pass on as the hidden good games; the reason being the game didn't have much marketing, even when being an Ubisoft game, but it turns out this is one of the few games that are actually good and optimized for PC (unlike any of the AAA games they release every year, where PC optimization and Quality Control is like the last priority they go for).

Story
At the beginning you will be at a bar where the main character (Silas Greaves) is telling the bar tender his adventures in exchange for free drinks. While Silas is telling the stories, those stories are the game sections in where you kind of re-live his adventures and encounters with recognized cowboys from the old Wild West. While going through the game you can listen to Silas narrate the story and the reaction from the people around in the bar, which makes for a immersion a bit good. Also, there are no cut scenes while this is happening either, is more like changing pictures and dialog. In any case, being a not well known game and probably from a tiny studio inside Ubisoft the game can feel a bit short, but worry not as it delivers, if you are really looking for old Wild West action. Also without saying anything else about the story, there are multiple endings to it and that's all I'm going to say.

Gameplay
Controls are simple and pretty much the standards as any other first person shooter, so getting the hang of them is not difficult at all. Also, the gun play is pretty much well crafted, feels fluid and easy to master too. Another great thing about this game (and a huge plus for me) is that the game do NOT force the use of UPlay (Ubisoft's version of Steam) on you, so you do not have to deal with it, you press Play and you go into directly the game (no third party platforms nonsense like any other modern Ubisoft game). Music is well adapted to the environment and makes a good job putting the appropriate pieces in the different sections of the game by adding a little bit to the adrenaline you might experience while going throughout the action sections of the game. Another good thing to mention is how they implemented the duel or stand-off in this game, of course, it would take you quite some tries to master the mechanic, but I think it was good implemented as instead of staying in first person mode you go into some sort of like third person, but you have aim and move your character's hand close to the pistol and then make your move by reading the opponent's movements; there is even a dodge opportunity during these duels, but if you misread your opponent you get shot, but if you do it properly they get shot and you win. Something to really keep in mind while playing too is that the weapons you used are of course themed to the old Wild West, so there is not scopes, laser sights, large clips/magazines, fancy explosions or anything else, you get your good old six shooter, a basic shotgun and rifle for some distance shots.

Progression System
While going through the game you game you gained experience points, which you can use to get some new skills. Said skills will help you in your journey throughout the game; the skill can affect your guns and even some passive abilities like getting more experience for example; there is a good variety of them to make the gun-play even better. Reloading a pistol or shotgun or even a rifle faster can be really useful in those parts where you are pretty much surrounded a bunch of enemies.

Side Content
There are few things to do besides the story mode in the game though; those being getting the collectibles, the arcade mode and duel mode. Every section of the game will have 2 or 3 things you can collect, they are addressed as Nuggets of Truth and they have their little description and everything. Then there is the Arcade mode, which is pretty much, shoot and get a lot of points for shooting baddies, of course the sections in where you will shoot them are taken from the main story mode, but some of them are shorter or have more enemies in it, your objective is to make as much points as you can without being shot, if you are shot you lose the score multiplier you get for shooting enemies in a row; each of the levels have their point goals and your job is to be the greatest there is and make a better score; you can also compare your score with anyone who has the game and is on your Steam Friend list. And finally there is Duel Mode, which is pretty much going through every duel in Story mode back to back, you get five tries to complete all of them, and if you think it is not possible to complete this mode, you might want to re-think as it takes some practice to be able to master all of them, very fun mode if you ask me.

Multiplayer
There is no multiplayer mode in this game, other than the leader-boards in both Arcade and Duel mode with anyone who owns the game and you have in your Steam Friends list.

Closing Thoughts
If you really like first person shooters is probably a short, but sweet game to consider and like mentioned before the big plus being Ubisoft Game is you do NOT have to use UPlay to play it. All in all, is a good and entertaining game to try and when is on sale you can get it really, really cheap. So, what are you waiting for grab that hat and a pair of six shooters and get ready to be an old Wild West legend now.

Tired playing the same games over and over again? want to play something different? well, this game some sort of fresh air if you really want to break away from the routine type of games.

Story
The game it will feel really short if you go really fast about it, but the story simple and it is not told by reading anything or even by dialog from the characters in the game as they speak a rubbish language (kind of like in the Sims). However, the story is so simple and easy to understand, to sum it up without spoiling too much; two brothers see their father get sick and go into a journey to get medicine to cure their father; while the main objective is to get the medicine the journey these two brother go through is what makes the story interesting and a bit different you might be used to in games.

Gameplay
It is recommended to play this game with a controller, I'm not really sure how it plays without it, because I played it with a controller. At first can feel a little off and takes time to get used to. Playing with a controller you control the brothers with each of the joysticks of the controller, a little bit confusing at first, but like I said it takes time to get used to. Besides there is no multiplayer option in this game, so you HAVE to control both brothers. Each brother has their own perks and while going through the game you will need to combine or use their perks to progress further into the game. Music and scenery is what makes this game interesting and sometimes what would make you understand what is going on (as there is no written or dialog to follow to understand).

Closing Thoughts
As mentioned before if you are really tired of playing the same type of games; this game can prove to be something different, yet refreshing. Being an Indie game, don't expect to be a really long game, instead it will feel really short if you rush through it (I finished it in around 4 hours, not rushing into it and with it you might have and idea how long the game can be). If you really want to try something different from the rest, this is probably a good game for you and not expensive nowadays neither; even gets cheaper when there are sales on Steam going on. So, if you made your mind about giving it a try, what are you waiting for? go get it!...

It is a little bit difficult to review a game like this, specially with popular opinion this game has already... either way, let me share my experience about it...

Story
This time you step on the shoes(or boots) of Arno Dorian in Paris, France during the French Revolution. While the start is a little bit confusing as you start as a random assassin guy going through a random mission against some templars. Eventually you get to be on Arno's shoes and go through his whole Assassin training and then missions. While all of this is happening, in the real world you are just a normal guy using something called Helix, which is gaming device produced by Abstergo (the templar company) so, you can live or re-live different genetic memories from people in the past. While the story plot is not bad, is not really as memorable as you might think. That's all I would say about it as don't want to spoil it for everyone.

Combat
This game did a complete overhaul to the fighting system in the Assassin's Creed games giving the player an actual challenge and making you think twice before going all guns blazing on everyone you find. At least it becomes challenging until you find out you can just throw a smoke bomb and pretty much take 4 or 5 enemies down while they are confuse. If you are going into a sword only fight you will have to learn the timing to parry the enemies attacks as if you do them too early or too late and you will get hit. A thing to keep in mind when fighting a group of soldiers or rebels are the enemies shooting at you with rifles; but then again you are an Assassin and have a whole bunch of weapons to deal with your enemies, like mini arrows, pistols, smoke bombs and of course the hidden blade.

XP System
While go through the game you will level up Arno and suit it to your play style, by getting different pieces of cloth with different abilities, some are good for stealth while others are good to tank more hits. You really have the freedom to choose what play style suits you better.

Movement
In this game they introduced a "sneaking" mode which can help to take down enemies silently and without fighting an entire groups of enemies, but sneaking around is not your thing, you can always equip yourself with a battle axe and get everyone in your way. Another notable change was they completely change the parkour system and scaling and jumping from building to building is way easier and believe you will need it as 75% of the time you will be jumping around and doing Assassin stuff.

Side Content
There is a lot, believe me... A LOT of side content to complete in this game. If you really want to complete the game to 100% like I did, it might take you a while. The side missions can go from collectibles, discovering the map, specific side missions, investigations, heists, etc. During some of the side missions for some rare glitch in the Abstergo system, Arno will be transported to modern times and you will see tanks, planes and stuff from World War 2; all of these is not related to the story at all but it is introduced to you as the player using the Abstergo gaming system.

Multiplayer
While this game took out the multiplayer mode the previous game had, which are mostly if not all competitive, you looking and eliminating other players in this game they changed it out completely and made it so it was cooperative play only; of course the co-op mode only works for some specific missions, mostly heists and assassinations. The few times I tried to do the co-op missions have to say the connectivity it was not as good and not too many players are actually using it, so finding someone to do co-op is a chore. While is the co-op is not bad, is not as good either... in other words, is meh!.

Performance
This is where everyone pretty much bashed this game and have to say after the critical patches they did a way long time ago the game is pretty much playable, of course thinking you have a good graphics card and CPU as the performance is not really constant and being the type of game where you find a lot of NPCs on the streets constantly. Most of the times the game fluity will be affected mostly when you are outside, most of the indoors missions keeps the performance fluid, but you will be mostly outside running out in the street. Unfortunately, after this game was released in a really bad state and the performance not being as good as you might expect, the well known "Ubisoft Quality" that all Ubisoft games have nowadays where the performance in PC is not stellar and you most likely need to find a work around to be able to play.

Closing Thoughts
If you like the Assassin's Creed game series and want something different from the previous 3 games, this game is definitely recommended for you, but having in mind you will need a good PC to be able to run it properly. The story is average and not really memorable, the gameplay it is good when you get used to it but at the same time it gets repetitive if you are going for 100% completion. Something worth mention it is compare to the launch date where you were required to have the app to be able to unlock some of the items in game, now it is not necessary to have the app now as everything you supposed to get from the app is now unlocked automatically. All in all, I'd recommend this game only if you PC supports it and if you have played the previous games, so of course, get it when it is on sale.

Ever played Batman Arkham Asylum or Batman Arkham City? if you did, you will pretty much remember how well the fighting system for this game is; Arkham Asylum the first game of the Arkham series, providing you with a Batman story in where Batman already known what is he doing, fighting crime and doing Batman stuff. But today we are talking about Arkham Origins which is not a continuation of Arkham City which was the second of the series, but like the name suggests is a prequel and it has a story of the first years of Batman being Batman.

One thing to keep in mind is that this game was not developed by Rocksteady Studios like the first too, but rather by Warner Bros Studios, therefore you cannot expect the same quality of game you had with the first two. They re-used a lot of assets of the previous games, specially the second game and added a few new things here and there, but they are really minimal.

Story
As mentioned before the story in this game covers the first years of Batman being or doing Batman stuff; you will be able to tell why those are his first years in like the first 30 minutes of the game. I'll not disclose more detail about the story as I do not want to spoil it for you, but in my opinion can say the story is well done and entertaining. Another thing to mention, the story does not take place in the Arkham Asylum or the prison city the two previous game did, this time you are in Gotham City and being fair, if you played the second game you will find the map very familiar to what Arkham City was, of course, few new things here and there but nothing really amazing.

Gameplay
If you played the previous games you will not have any difficulty to get used to the controls nor the game mechanics like the fighting system or the detective work you do during the story. A few improvements here and there when it comes to the fighting system, is little more forgiving than the previous games, but you can also use the new items to make your combos more interesting and satisfying when facing the bad guys... the detective parts of the story were also enhanced, giving you the feeling of actually being the "world's greatest detective".

XP System and Leveling up
Yes, you read this right, there is a experience system included with this game in where you can get more fighting moves for Batman or just get extra abilities for some if not all of the gadgets which become useful as you progress through the game. You get experience by completing either the main content or the side content. Not really hard to level up at all, as long as you move with the story you will earn the sufficient experience to upgrade anything you need.

Movement
Fast Travel via the Batwing has been added to the game, of course you have to unlock the points where you can fast travel, but it makes really simply to move around Gotham once you have progressed through the story. Of course, you can still glide and use Batman's grappling hook to move around.

Side Content
Like the previous game there is side content in the game which are pretty much little stories inside Gotham to expand even more with the Batman's Universe lore. Side content is taken as different cases Batman has to solve and each case is around 4 or 5 parts long. There is plenty of content to go around. Also, after you finish the game like the previous, you have the option to do New Game Plus, keeping everything you had from the game (excluding the gadgets you have to get in certain parts of the story); now the difference with this game is there is a new mode after you complete new game plus, which is the "I am the night" mode and it is pretty much, new game plus (enemies hit faster, no warning signs and you take more damage) but you have only one life to complete the main story, if you die you have to start all over again; of course, there is an achievement tied to this and have to say, you have to be really careful, specially with some of the boss fight to avoid dying in the most dumb way, like I did when I was going for the achievement... was like at 80% of completing game when a silly mistake in a boss fight made Batman die and thus had to start over.

Multiplayer
Yes, this game has a multiplayer mode too. To be honest, I didn't played it too much, just tested a few times. But it is a competitive game mode in where you get into one of the three teams, the Heroes (Batman or Robin), the Joker gang or Bain's gang. You can level up your character and with levels you can get more perks and stuff during matches.

Closing Thoughts
All in all, this is quite a good game if you like Batman or if you did like the previous games; even if you were expecting the same voice actors from the first and second game, the guys who did the characters voices do a pretty good job. Also, if you like kicking butts the Batman way, you can just get into the game to either free roam around Gotham City and get some of them or there are challenges to do so; like I mentioned before, there is a plenty of content to complete in this game and even a multiplayer mode if you like that kind of thing.

If you ever liked a 2D platformer games, well here is another one, but this time using all of the skins of the Batman Arkham Origins game, but it has its own story though. This time Batman goes to solve some issues in the Black Gate prison. There are a few of the characters from the other game too, even have the same voice actors too. As another Batman story it is interesting and entertaining. The gameplay mechanics are simple and it doesn't take a bunch of time to get used to the controls and game mechanics. Be aware, the cut scenes are like a comic, still images while audio plays in the back.

If you want to try something different for a change, this could a good for you; it doesn't take too much time to complete it... and it is not as expensive as you might think if you pick it when is on sale, so what are you waiting for? ready to go to Black Gate and help Batman break some bones and fight some crime?...

I used to play this game a lot, always hoping it will improve the beta quality the game has, but unfortunately that never happened and as result stopped playing it and have no desire to ever try it again.

This game has hidden in my Steam library since like 2 years now and it will remain there as proof of the big waste of money (around $120 between the pre-order and some of the DLCs) it was for me. In my book, there is only one Payday game and that is Payday: The Heist, not this intent of a game which doesn't know what it is anymore.

If a new game in this franchise is released, hopefully it will not be as lazy as this one. Also, not pre-ordering again, like I said a big waste of money and I'm really embarrassed to have invested so many time in it too.......

Well, yes this is another Assassin's Creed game and it is a slight improvement over the third game, some of feels more like a patched version of the third game as improves over major negative parts of the previous games. A big and important change about the game is the story as this time you are presented with Edward Kenway (grand father of the main character of the third game) and the big twist about the story is that Kenway was a pirate and so much likable character rather than the dull and forgettable from the previous game, so if you like pirate themed games, this game is right at your alley as you will be doing the pirate part for the bast majority of the game.

After playing for the first 10 to 20 hours you kinda realize the Assassins and Templars seems kinda forced into a pirate game. Don't get me wrong, while the whole assassins and templars might be interesting there is so little about it in the game to make it really interesting. Probably, the worst part of the game is when you are not playing as Edward Kenway and you are in a first person mode in a modern times office of Abstergo like doing a regular job with a separate semi-plot of the assassins VS templars in modern times; just forget this part, like I did.

If you played the third game and remember the naval parts, in this game you will get a fully fleshed version of it as it was improved a lot. You have the ability to upgrade your ship, get a "control" a fleet as you can capture ships to get more resources which can help you during your journey in the game. If you are going for the 100% completion, like I did be prepared to spend a lot of times collecting stuff and exploring the map which is quite huge, took me around 60 hours to be able to complete it at 100%.

The Combat part of the game it is even more simplified than the third game, therefore you will be able to take down around 20 guards without any problem as long as you follow the chain kills. Of course, during the game you are suppose to use the stealthy approach, but if you don't like said approach... well, you can go through a great group of guards without any problem as long as you learn the combat system, which don't take much to get used to. The soundtrack of the game gives real immersion to the whole pirate them, but if you are not into the whole pirate song chanting might become a little repetitive when exploring the world as you will spend a good portion of the time in your ship going from point A to B; of course you have the ability to fast travel all you need is to explore an area just one time and after unlocking the fast travel point will make your life easier, so you travel from one island to the other in seconds rather than doing it using your ship.

Multiplayer, again a patched version of the previous game but this time pirate themed, no real difference in many of the different modes you can play. To be honest, 5 - 10 hours was the most time I did for the multiplayer mode at the most.

Lastly, with this version of Assassin's Creed I got the opportunity to play the Assassin's Creed IV: Freedom Cry which is included as part of the season pass. Of course, you can get the standalone version of it, but is more of the same, just different main character; in this one you are Adewale, the first officer of Kenway after the events of Assassin's Creed IV when Kenway and Adewale decide to take their own way. Slight differences really, you are in for a 10 hours at the most with this section of the game, if you are going for a 100% completion run, the story is quite short and not as good as the Kenway section, but more content nevertheless.

All in all, if you liked the previous games (even the third one) and any pirate related stuff, you are in for a treat. If this is your first assassin's creed game be prepared to be a little bit confused about the Assassins and Templars in modern times part as it doesn't get explained too much and you might feel lost during these sections.
