Short and sweet. It's a love letter to The Thing, and does everything to make you feel like you are an unstoppable monstrosity. Puzzle segments can slow down the pace; but, they don't detract from the overall experience. It leaves room for a sequel, which I really hope they do. John Carpenter would be proud.

I've thoroughly enjoyed my time with The Messenger. I played a little bit of the Ninja Gaiden games on NES. But, not enough to actually have fond memories of them. This review will be based on The Messenger on its own merit.

This game has some of the best movement tech in any platformer I've played. How fast you go through a screen is entirely on how risky you are/how good your reaction time is.

Music is fantastic. I don't usually get turnt over chiptunes. But, I actually listen to the soundtrack on a regular basis, and am planning on buying it at some point.

The 8bit/16bit gimmick is done very well. It is incorporated into the mechanics of the game/story in a way that feels natural, and doesn't detract from the experience at all.

Overall, this game is definitely deserving of the 10/10s it's getting around the internet. The pacing can be a little off after you get to the open world portion. But, it makes up for it with the fluidity of movement, and the overall aesthetic the game goes for. It's a fantastic game that is worth your time.

Early Access Review
Slay the Spire is my favorite game to come out of 2018. It's an early access game done right. TONS of polish and content rivaling full releases, with weekly balance/content updates. Playing this game since March, it has been a wild ride seeing all the changes. I would definitely recomend this game to anyone looking for a fun and challenging deck building game.

One of my favorite games of all time. It has aged incredibly well for a PS2 game! The gameplay is just as fresh as it was when I played it in 2006. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone looking for a fresh, unique gaming experience. They don't make games like this anymore.
