Resident Evil Village is a MASTERPIECE. Well done, CAPCOM! You guys really outdid yourselves with RE7 & RE8.

The Story & Characters: Really splendid plot with very interesting characters that will be remembered for years to come. The plot is the sequel to RE7 which adds to the characters and gives us more depth into what happened at the Baker's plantation and the plot takes an interesting twist towards the end. Well done!

Environment and Setting: Everywhere you go in this game, it gives you the feeling that you would expect in a horror setting. Creepy village, castle, dolls, you name it! The environments are so damn detailed and beautiful that I found myself taking screenshots all the time and just staring at them like paintings. The artists have really created a living, breathing scene for us all to enjoy. Truly a work of art!

Enemies: Every single enemy, mini boss and boss was so damn fun to fight. They kept you on your toes and jumping around in your seat just to stay alive. There is so much variety in enemy behavior. It's overall a really well thought out concept and execution.

Weapons & Items: Although well balanced, the game does go easy on you (on Standard difficulty too). The items and ammo almost never ran out or is that just me? I didn't find myself healing often or buying healing items or ammo from the Duke.

Gameplay: By far the most fun and interesting way to play Resident Evil. First person perspective (FOV was a bit weird with this one though), interesting and fun puzzles, helpful block and kick mechanic, and the much needed crouch mechanic.

Overall the game does an excellent job justifying what CAPCOM meant when they said they were returning to their roots with these games. i got a lot of Resident Evil 4 vibes playing Village and it was nostalgia hitting just right. With RE4 being my first and one of my all time favorite RE games, it was good seeing the Duke (like the merchant from RE4), shooting treasure so that it falls to the ground, shooting crows to get rich, and the list goes on!

TLDR: If you're a Resident Evil fan or are simply looking for a survival horror game to pick up, I'd definitely recommend Resident Evil Village. Although, I'd suggest completing RE7 Biohazard first if you want the full experience.
