To me the appeal of the post-apocalypse zombie setting is running around in the ruins of towns and cities, etc, not crawling through some boring monotonous flesh-caves.

I feel like the first DLC, released 6 months after the game released, really needed to include additional campaign and story content. Instead we've got whatever this is; a big ole' grind in some visually uninteresting environments I guess.
