Early Access Review
Singleplayer missions: 5/10
Multiplayer missions: 10/10

I don't like the first few singleplayer missions, these teach you about playing each specific aircrafts, but I feel like the difficulty and enemy AI isn't dialed in correctly. I understand this isn't Ace Combat where you annihilate everyone but the missions isn't forgiving at all. Failing to dodge one missile or receiving a bullet in the wrong place is simply game over, and because of this I skipped several missions.

Just when I was about to give a thumbs down and a 5/10, I joined a multiplayer session. I had a LOT of fun. Being able to freely choose your loadout and fly the full size of the map is absolutely incredible. What is even better is the feeling when you just shot down a plane or sunk a ship.

This game still isn't perfect, ordering ground forces around is barely working, and how to capture air bases is not made clear. This game almost exclusively uses one CPU core which suffers massively in multiplayer, especially if the multiplayer server is a slow computer.

I wouldn't hold these negatives against this game though, the backbones is fantastic and I can see how future updates would solve all the issues.

I like it, minimalist art style and quite relaxing until it becomes stressful. The UI could still do with a little polish but it's alright.

Surprised I haven't left a review already. Horizon 4 and 5 is one of my favorite games, the sense of driving and racing your dream car in such a beautiful world is something that no other game match. The physics is not realistic, tuned for controllers and is arguably better than something in the league of BeamNG. If you like cars and racing you can't miss this.

The following will cover some technical aspects of the game
Hopefully I make a good job explaining things (leave a comment if I don't).

Transmission

I have a bone to pick with the way gearboxes work in this game. Every car (from manuals to electric vehicles) handles like they're a manual but I don't control my left foot. I can't find a mode where this changes, even in "Manual w/ clutch", the purpose of the clutch in that mode is that it doesn't play a grinding gear sound effect when shifting.

The clutch is always automated and the engines never stall, regardless of which gear I'm in. If my engine RPM is too low, the clutch will disconnect, and when I'm accelerating from a standstill in, say, 6th gear, the car starts in a half-clutch state at ~3000RPM, and only when I'm up to speed does the clutch fully drop. If you know what you're looking for it is really obvious.

Now, EVs. I've seen some of them idle at 2K RPM, and other times they start out at 0 like they're supposed to, I've had inconsistent results. However, they still have a clutch.

Steering Wheel and Force Feedback

This game is tuned for controllers and FFB is an afterthought. The steering rack feels like they're in a pool of syrup, and the most prominent force I feel is always the default self-centering. I can't feel understeer at all, and when the car oversteers I always see it instead of feel it. I can still feel oversteer but it's too little, too late, by then the rears are already gone and I have spun off.

I'd say yes, actually. Time trials are my favorite races, and there's a lot of it here. The roads and graphics are fantastic, probably not worth the full price but there's often sales

I'm only going to talk about the technical side of things, the gameplay is covered extensively by other reviews.

This game have the jankiest implementation of Ray Tracing I've ever seen, not because of performance, but the quality is strangely poor. I don't think there even is a denoiser in the game. When using SSAO you can quite literally see individual rays as pixels in a grid pattern with maybe 5 pixels between them, and very fine details like fur is totally lost.

Only way to make the pixels go away is strangely upscaling. Putting FSR on Quality or a 30 Resolution Scale eliminates all the jank (but introduces minor, almost unnoticeable artifacts), and restores virtually all of the lost details, especially on fur.

9.5/10

I have not played an RPG game that captured me like this since Nier: Automata and The Witcher 3. The games I play recently are all just to fulfill my boredom, and not something that I actually enjoy. Witchspring R brings back the anticipation of sitting down at the computer and exploring the world of Pieberry.

Apparently the Witchspring series started out as a mobile game some 8 or so years ago, and the series (Witchspring 1-4) still could be found on the Apple Appstore, all for less than 15 bucks. Witchspring R, being a PC game, unfortunately came with a price tag of a PC game, which I have absolutely zero issues with. The story, pacing, animation, music, and especially art, is fantastic. You can clearly see details and attention going into trivial aspects of the game like animations and art.

I'm not a fan of Turn Based Combat (I hate Divinity Original Sin because of that), but this game is quite something. Simple yet satisfying, complex yet easily understandable.

The game isn't without its flaws though, combat and the music does get a bit repetitive, clearing enemies during routine exploration becomes a chore, and there is often some incredibly obscure information, usually regarding acquisition of pets. Some requires a very specific action that is in no way made clear, and feeding pet food is a trial-and-error process of hundreds of in-game items.

That's where the bad things end, I had incredible fun throughout and I want to play more games in this series, although I'm afraid none of them will be as high quality as Witchspring R.

unconventional, but that is where the charm lies.

Having put up with even worse requirements like EA Origin and Rockstar Launcher, a simple PSN account isn't even the most outrageous thing I've done and goes to show just how low my expectations have gotten.

I created a PSN account the day I launched the game, so this doesn't impact me. What this negative review is for everyone who can't play. I expect a full refund to everyone who is not in PSN's list of countries, even if they do not meet Steam's refund requirement

Edit: Now that the PSN drama is behind us, this honestly is a fantastic game, weapons are very balanced, there's no "correct" loadout, you can take even the most basic starter gear into some pretty high difficulties without trouble.

fantastic visuals and atmospheres, and the gameplay is quite good, especially if you played some Minecraft.

This game also inherits some of MC's "quirks", such as a Shift Key Sneak (you don't fall off of ledges) and Sprint is Ctrl. Not the smartest layout (in my opinion), but it's what Minecraft does.

Falls can be quite devastating, especially late game where the error of margin is nonexistent. I like it, but I wish there's more "safety platforms" to catch you when you fall, but I guess there's also some charms to a Getting Over It style game
