SAVE YOUR MONEY, forget this game.... CoH / CoV is BACK, a AWESOME TEAM and donators have brought it back from the dead, its called homecoming. Thanks to @Capt_Reacharound for making a review saying that it has come back.

That being said here is my actual review of the game now times have changed.

I really enjoyed this game and used it as a replacement for CoH/CoV once that shut down, it was by the same devs as that, so it was somewhat the same, the customisation was pretty similar.

HOWEVER, they changed the subscription model, now you either pay a HUGE lifetime fee (fair enough to those with the money and want to do that, but it is a huge ammount £200 something), or pay for EACH freeform character.

Since freeform characters were the best thing ever, 99% of my characters were freeform, and thus the new subscription model has locked all my characters behind a paywall! each one costs like £20 something to unlock.

Setting aside the paywall, even then I OFTEN come across almost game breaking bugs, and they NEVER fixed them, I tried opening tickets and never got replies, and same with others, and all over the forums.

This game is amazing in VR.
Even though it's the old graphics not the remastered. It is still slightly better than original graphics, and because you are immersed, you do not really notice (for me anyway). I do think it's worth the price but maybe a fiver less. It runs amazing on my GTX 980 supersampling in the middle and adaptive resolution off. I think because most of the game is melee it makes it more immersive than shooting a gun say in Fallout 4 VR, and you get really sucked into the world. Shooting magic feels so cool, and realistic archery setting is exactly what I wanted, originally I was nervous to how the bow would work. It didn't seem to have the bug when Fallout 4 VR first come out with the distance blurry, because you can turn up the resolution, taa, and supersamping in game! Which is amazing. I really like that it gives you the option to dull down the graphics a lot so that others with a not quite so capable GPU can run it well enough to still experience it even if it is at a lesser quality, the immersion I think will make up for that. I was able to get Fallout 4 VR working alright on my old GPU (GTX 660) yeah you heard, and I only upgraded for a much smoother and higher quality, I feel like this game will run well with that old GPU because of the older graphics from the original game, and also the customisable graphics settings in game are so in depth. I have only gotten to the village, but so far I'm loving it! Only reason I stopped is because it's 4AM and I got tired standing so long haha.

Definitely recommend if you have a VR headset with motion controllers.
Oh and holding objects, interacting and picking up items is perfect!

And I have the graphics on the highest FYI

This was by far (so far) my favourite VR game. I love portal, and having room scale and playing it in a big 4M3 area was awesome. I completed it in half hour and wish there was so much more ! PLEASE make more and or team up with valve ;). The whole elevator thing was very weird felt so strange haha. Dodging the turrets was my favourite part of this.

I HIGHLY recommend any portal fans to try this out, It is so much fun. Shame its so short though.

I dont understand the mixed reviews. I tried this on a to be honest not capable machine with a HTC Vive, it was amazing. It did not crash like others are saying, and I played it for about an hour and a half. I REALLY love Second Life, and this reminds me of a "VR" version of it. I love creating stuff and manipulating things like in SL in this game. The HUD in the bubble is awesome. As I have only played this for an hour and a half I cant really give much of a good review but for the time I played it was EPIC. If you love Second Life and have a decent spec pc, and use a decent HMD then I would highly recommend this. I did not want to stop playing, but then realized I really should take a break.

Very awesome! Bring back so much nostaliga, even though I played HL1 source, this is much better, It feels updated. The levels have slight details changed which make it really enjoying to replay because its slightly different and not the same storey, but at the same time it keeps the good parts and improves them. I enjoyed this a lot! and I can not wait for XEN.

Little puzzles in the game also make the game a lot of fun, level design and the way your character behaves is improved.I love the changes, they make the what was one an amazing game, even better. If you really enjoyed HL1, then I recommend strongly to get this, If you are looking to play it again afer many years of not playing. Its not just nostaliga, but also things that have been switched up slightly will make you enjoy this game a lot on top of the nostalgia.

I bought this game without even realizing it was early acess, I can not wait to see whats in store for the full compled version. It played amazing, like it wasnt early access, I only experieced one minor bug and that wasnt anything that spoilt the gameplay. (The dead ragdolls would be standing up in the pose that you use in model viwer when reloading a save game).

The new effects and graphics are awesome, they arent world class graphics but I did not expect that based on the source engine in its current state, but It still adds very nice details and graphical effects that make things look awesome. (Like the gluon gun effects are epic. the electric dogs, fire burnt vents looks awesome, portals and lasers blasting out the lamda core look epic).

So far this game has proved to be amazing, the animations, and notable hate traits with the DayZ mod in ArmA2 have improved drastically. I was enjoying this so much and all I did for the few hours was wonder about basically RP'ing, scavaging for items. Without going into too much detail its a must if you like to contribute like I do to the development for a game, and even though this game is in ALPHA pre BETA... it has less bugs so far that I have come across than some beta games.
