This is one of the few social games where the product's main focus isn't just the best part. Socializing with your friends, finding new fish, and making new friends along the way is what makes this game truly special. Easily the best $5 you could spend this year.

I met my husband on this game, and I think that's pretty cool :)

An incredible upgrade from the previous Puyo Puyo Tetris entry. A wide variety of characters return; including more niche characters like Harpy. Of course, since it's a SEGA published game, Sonic was injected into this game as a playable character alongside the rest of the cast. Otherwise, yeah the game is pretty great!

Puyo Puyo has been one of my favorite action-puzzle games for over ten years now—especially for its unique concepts, stories, and designs altogether. The games within the Puyo Puyo franchise without a doubt usually exceed my expectations.

The key word being usually.

PROS:
  1. There are many lessons this game offers you right off the bat—far more than what the previous game/crossover within the franchise—Puyo Puyo Tetris—had to offer.
  2. There's a ton of new characters you may not have seen before if you only played Puyo Puyo Tetris.
  3. There's lots of new artwork added within the game—including some older artwork being up-scaled at a higher resolution
  4. Much like with Puyo Puyo Tetris, there is a large room for modding capability and tutorials on how to get started on doing such within the Steam Community forums and guides

CONS:
  1. Puyo Puyo Champions suffers from MASSIVE FPS drops in comparison to its predecessor, Puyo Puyo Tetris.

Myself—and even others on the forums with high-end PCs far surpassing the recommended technical specifications—have also reported significant dips in performance to a point where the only viable way to play the game is using the Fullscreen Window option instead of the any other Window setting you would expect to be functioning somewhat decently at least in the slightest bit.

NOTE: Even with the above settings, the game is hard-capped at 60 FPS with seemingly random fluctuations to 59 FPS and 61 FPS regardless if you have a 144hz monitor or not.
  2. It runs better on every other console.

Do I even need to say more than that?

NEITHER A PRO NOR A CON:
  1. There's new voice acting for the Japanese voices. I'm not a fan of it personally since I believe it takes away from the iconic attacks that every character, but this is completely subjective and is my personal preference.

CONCLUSION:
Make no mistake: if you're a fan of the Puyo Puyo series and/or if you want to learn the basics on how to actually get better at the game overall, then this Puyo Puyo Champions is absolutely perfect for you.

But for your own sake, get this game on literally any other platform if you are interested in improving your skills without having to deal with abysmal frame drops.

Rivals of Aether continuously has updated and cared for its game and community since its initial launch in Early Access. If you want a good time with friends, whether it be in a creative way with the Steam Workshop, or just through a good ol' fashion Smash-like platform-fighting experience, this is the game for you.

The Painter's Playground--like all games--has its ups and downs. Nevertheless, it is still worth the buy.

Ever feel stressed, creative, or just want to really relax a bit? How about take all those emotions, ideas, and concepts onto a canvas instead of out of frustration? Don't have the funds to affording painting so many pictures? Then The Painter's Playground is just for you.

Allow me to summarize the positive and negatives:

Positives:
  • LOTS of options to create a masterpiece
  • Ways to share your work with the community
  • Relaxing after a series of unfortunate and stressful events
  • Can easily just be picked up on the go if started on a laptop
  • Response time on support and with bugs via email is fast and effecient
  • Using the hour per dollar ratio in pricing a game, this game would be worth approximately $285 USD (may be biased)

Negatives:
  • Some of the bugs can be horrendous (such as where all paintings are flagged with forgery and deleted)
  • Steam Cloud synchronization doesn't exactly sync your level well across multiple devices--especially if you forgot to close out of it on your other device(s)
  • For badge collectors, there are absolutely no trading cards that come with this game (THIS IS BIG FOR STEAM GAMES)
  • For some reason, an AMD Radeon CPU can run this at 60 FPS (or greater?) while an i3 2120 cannot
  • If you don't think you can put ten hours in this, it would not worth the buy using the hour per dollar ratio ($5 maybe?)

While this game may not exactly be the definition of perfect, I will say to you that it is something I would say is worth the buy for sure. It's definitely something I like to play in my spare time.

Marvelous! Simply, marvelous! This has to be one of the best games I played in 2013 and what's this? BattleBlock Theater is now on steam? Ho boy! Things are getting mighty steamy in here!
