Honestly, was really looking forward to the story on this game since Disney seems to be screwing everything up, but despite being out for over a year, this game is still an unoptimized trash heap. Sure, the combat is fun, but for some reason, the game keeps crashing during cutscenes, and I'm even using Let the Performance be with you (an optimization mod), but there's only so much the community can do for a game before they pretty much have to rebuild it from the ground up. Cmon EA, Respawn. Is this seriously the future of gaming??? Garbage piles of garbage code that no modern system can run? Thank god I only got screwed out of 32 bucks, cause of the sale. And to think EA wants $70 bucks for something that doesn't work. The future of AAA games is Indie devs.
If you're an Indie Dev studio reading this, resist the corporate corruption and continue to make amazing games that are worth every penny. And to the AAA studio PR manager reading this, get to work on this dumpster fire that's been raging for over a year.

One of the best horde shooters around.
Seriously, the only other horde shooter that's this good is Warframe, which I've dedicated 1.5k hours of my life to. Plan on doing the same here for HellDivers 2. Other AAA studios got nothing on Arrowhead Games. I don't know how these companies are screwing up, but I'm finally excited to see another passion project hit the AAA racks. Hopefully Sony doesn't get too greedy and f**k over Arrowhead. Let's get into specifics:

1. The game is a very modest $40, with optional MTX for cosmetics that do a *little* bit. The helms in the SuperStore don't list any benefits, and the armors list benefits, but aside from getting access to certain armor perks early (you can get armors with the same perks from the passes) the SuperStore is purely cosmetic to someone who does a lot of missions for medals.

2. The MTX currency is grindable in-game! Seriously, I've found 4 drops of SuperCreds on one mission, cause I took the time to explore the map. 40 supercreds for 30 minutes of hunting. In about 40-50 hours of Gameplay, I was able to get 1k SuperCreds, which allowed me to get the premium pass for free! I'm already saving up for the next premium pass.

3. Difficulty Slider: There's a difficulty level in the game and you can adjust it to your skill level and what gear you'd like to use. I find Level 4 Bugs with the Stalwart or MG the most fun, but I typically play at level 7 solo, with Railgun and Resupply Pack (adds 40 rounds of Rail ammo, if you use it when your Rail reaches 10 or fewer rounds.) or up to level 9 with a good, high level team.

4. The Community surrounding HellDivers is mostly wholesome. I'm probably one of the more toxic elements to said community, although I'm certain there are worse. Try to make some friends, or bring some along! The game does list 4 player coop as one of the features, and said coop is peer to peer. Only reason why the servers exist? Why, for the MTX, of course! (also keeping track of the war progress.) Be warned that there are people who do kick for not bringing "meta" load-outs.

5. Objective oriented: It isn't just a mindless horde shooter like Warframe at times (my brain goes numb sometimes while grinding on that game). It actually requires you to think, plan ahead, and move cautiously. In Warframe, you can become nearly indestructible, however, HellDivers is a little more realistic. You're human, and as such, you're quite squishy. In earlier missions, you can get away with setting off patrols and stuff like that, but at higher levels, you wanna try to move quickly and quietly, taking out patrols before they have the chance to sound the alarm... that is if you want to get the mission done and extract with your lives.

6. Gear and Stratagems: You get armor and weapons from the battle pass, which some players might miss if the HUD does not fit properly on their screen (Pretty sure there's settings to fix that), and you get Stratagems and ship upgrades at the ship management menu, which allows you to get your hands on the mighty railgun, the amazing shield generator, the spectacular resupply pack, and more! You can call in the various stratagems through inputting a series of directional commands, like olden day cheat codes, although be warned that some automaton missions will scramble your stratagems, so you'll have to watch what you're throwing.

7. Grinding and upgrades: To be honest, grinding is a little painful, but if you understand armor perks, you'll know to take the Scout armor if you're hunting for samples or other resources. I'd give this game a 5 or 6 on the grinding scale, with Warframe being at a 10. The only benefit to the grinding is that there aren't a lot of upgrades (yet), so once you have all the upgrades, you'll be able to save up your samples for when new upgrades drop. I will say I'm disappointed by the lack of upgrading our weapons, like in the first game.

8. Finally, I compare HellDivers 2 to it's older brother, HellDivers (1). They run on the same engine, believe it or not, and I'm genuinely impressed with how good the graphics are. The first game is a top-down shooter, and I'd almost say easier, despite having higher difficulty levels, due to the way top-down physics are applied. The second is definitely harder, but way more fun. If you want a potential sneak-peak at future content, I'd look to the first game for some of the first updates. We've already been promised mechs, which was in the first game if you got the DLC, so who knows what the future holds? Hopefully the LAS-13 Trident makes a return?

Anyways, I hope I convinced you to purchase this game with a long, detailed, rambling review. If you did get it, then I'll see you on the front lines, Helldiver. FOR SUPER EARTH!

Why are the devs adding more features instead of fixing bugs? I'm playing SINGLEPLAYER and having unconscious thralls just disappear completely when I turn away for actually 3 seconds (I didn't even leave the area). Why bother adding more, when you've already got a buggy heap to fix?

Great, even amazing game if you have friends with a brain.
If you play with friends who don't have one, be prepared for a lot of monkey on a type-writer.
Beware the ladder.

You have come! You have come to hear the word of Talos!
The truth, child of Talos, is that the Dragon's children have come! To purge the world in fire and righteousness!
There are those who would silence the Dragon's truth! But not I! Not Heimskr! His word will be known!
He has returned... Oh, how Talos has returned. Helgen has been purged in his light. Will Whiterun be next?
The Imperials silence us because they fear us! They are cowards! Cowards and fools who have forgotten the truth!

Jesus they f*cked up the AI for this game. Was pretty good, but now seems difficulty level also gives your ants mental retardation depending on the "intensity." The PLAYER AI SHOULD NEVER NEED ADJUSTMENTS FOR DIFFICULTY LEVEL. thanks

"Update requires restart"
They legit can't even code a game that updates through Steam, and can handle the update without having to be launched twice.

It has "VR support" the same way your eyes support vision if you close them. Yeah, sure, technically, but you're blind and have no clue what you're doing... maybe a way to have controllers interact with the menus? (EDIT: I found a way! It's called "Elite VR Cockpit, and it's a mod for ED... pretty much makes it like No Man's Sky where the cockpit is interactable!)
But no, let's not have it detect the controllers as potential joysticks either, so I can pair my controllers with Voice Attack so I can do the other tasks that require buttons...
They pulled off the bare minimum with VR support unfortunately.
Great game otherwise, just don't have high hopes, or be ready to drop $400-1000 dollars on the headset, followed up by another $200 for the official ThrustMaster ED set...
If any fellow gamers out there know how to get ED to recognize and use my Quest 2 controllers, that'll be great, leave a comment king. In the mean time, I'm going to go play No Man's Sky, cause at least I can touch the joysticks of my ship with my Quest 2 controller.
Y'all (Frontier Devs) seriously let Hello Games outdo you huh?
I'm not mad... just disappointed.

The multiplayer can be fun, when people realize this game isn't ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ CoD and actually do the obj instead of running around like damned stoned monkeys. Matches can go on for a bit if both teams are actually intelligent, but most of the time ends up being a one-sided fight cause one team isn't aware of what's going on around them.
EDIT: Playing the game further shows quite a bit of work is still needed for map spawns, cause the game loves to spawn you in the middle of nowhere, with no allies nearby, just to get slaughtered by the enemies.

Awesome tool for dungeon masters, only downside is how laggy it can be if you're doing rough edges with a paintbrush (for a lake, as an eg)
