Battlefield 2042 feels like a fever dream.
I had fun. Well, atleast with my friends. The game feels like a prototype of something much larger. It's missing most, if not, all the core-features that made the earlier battlefield titles so memorable & funny to play.
I have bought the gold edition, but it really feels like i bought the standard edition. There has been no updates, regarding the content to come in year 1, and the only thing we have gotten in the meantime is some skins and really underwhelming gamemodes.
The only exciting thing to happen since the launch of the game, was the introduction of the weekly missions. But that also turned out be extremely underwhelming after the first week.
Performance & graphical-wise, i think this is the lowest of lowest, in the battlefield series to date. I would almost call it "amateurish". Especially by the fact, that this is a AAA (Triple A) game.
The graphics has seen a big downgrade in comparison to Battlefield V and previous titles. The maps are large, but they also lack everything that made the previous battlefield maps interesting and funny to play on.
The whole aspect of specialits is extremely weird. The traditional four-class system has always worked well, but now it's been changed to having to choose and play a specific specialist out of 10 different ones?
To say the least, i don't the understand the reason behind the change. I'm not saying it's bad, but it really doesn't make sense on paper. Maybe it's due to wanting to have unique skins for every specialist? i don't know.
Something i would also like to comment on, is the gameplay.
It's fine. It's nothing special by any means whatsoever. It feels like a very generic first person shooter, and the guns are just fine enough to use. Some vehicles feel good to use. Some are good and some are bad.
The lore behind the game is actually really interesting and good, in my personal opinion. The whole world has gone to ♥♥♥♥ and WW3 is basically on the verge of happening. The reason why i am writing this however, is because this is pretty much nonexsistenst in the game, other than some item descriptions.
Instead, we have specialists who run around and say stupid & quirky ♥♥♥♥, especially towards the end game (looking at you Angel).
Right now, Battlefield V has more than double the daily steam players that Battlefield 2042 has. To say the least, i really don't much optimism for 2042's future. There is drama left and right, and there's even some speculation that the game will be cancelled by EA entirely. It almost feels like Anthem all over again, and that's not a good thing.

TL;DR:
Battlefield 2042 is disappointing, boring, buggy, poorly optimized and a waste of time, unless you have someone to play with + any editions above the regular one, feels like a scam in all honesty.
