Hard as ♥♥♥♥, people tell me I'm smart but there's no way if the first ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ seven levels took me brute-force repeating it over and over. The speed-running for this game would probably be incomprehensible for a newbie like me.

It's good so far... about 6 hours in (crashed once, accidentally left it open another time) and the story is fairly entertaining. The mechanics are well-maintained and the feel is nearly identical to NieR: Automata, so if you enjoyed that game and haven't played NieR then this is a must-play IMO... the ammount of connections you will make as you enter familiar areas will stagger you but it's all there for a reason. And don't mind me if I say that Kaine is hot as ♥♥♥♥ and I would tap that anytime :)

Early Access Review
This game is incomplete.
It is listed as an early access game and even reminds you that it's not finished via one of the tips informing you that there will be a story mode added... But dear god I hope that they never choose to add more content to this already disgustingly difficult and buggy mess of a game, unless they can fix a few major problems that bog down the experience.
1. Fix the momentum so it's consistent.
Most of the time your characters momentum will snap to match whatever surface his feet touch. This means spinning platforms will hook you and give you insane speed if you manage to land on them from above. This gives you some solace when it comes to the middle parts of the game where swinging platforms and rotating wooden planks are what you'll need to walk on to progress. Along with this, there are times where you can take advantage of these mechanics to skip short segments of otherwise boring platforming. The issue is that sometimes the feet are too magnetic, and can give you the momentum even if you instantly fall off the platform because you weren't ACTUALLY standing on it. A good example is when you try to land on top of the first spinning plank at the start of the game, sometimes you may gain speed but instantly slide off the plank and then die because you get hit in the side and ragdoll into the water. Along with this, sometimes when using the ragdoll button on your own your feet will stay still for a second or two, losing all momentum and causing your body to flop down while your feet stay suspended in the air. This is either because the game thinks you're standing on something when you're not, or because the game's momentum system is breaking when engaging in the ragdoll mechanic manually.
2. Prevent saves from falling off the edge for no reason
This one is a minor point but there have been a couple of instances where I have successfully hit the balloon and the save plank falls into the water / into a spot that is un-reversable. This is the case for the 5th balloon especially, since it falls onto a slope and can often roll all the way into the water.
3. Respawning Terrain / Items is inconsistent
The 7th balloon doesn't disapear once it reaches its maximum height, and this prevents it from spawning if your previous save was the 6th save point, since its too close and doesn't despawn. This is also true with the rocks right after the 8th save, they don't respawn if you died within the village, since you're too close. The pit stays empty and you have to restart from the beginning if you use the 8th balloon. If this is intentional then it's well played and honestly rude to have a broken mechanic be utilized in this way, but if this is unintentional then the unfairness of the respawning not working is just too cruel to be justified.
Also the canon ball that is fired has a consistently too-fast rate of fire to actually get the save sign. It's impossible to get the sign if the canon fires immediately one after the other, and it only rarely gives you the break that I feel is intended... and it's worse because you won't know how long the canon will take to fire again until you've already gone far enough to spawn in the balloon, meaning its down to luck whether you get close enough to drop the sign.
4. Achievements may be broken
At this moment I am at 8/11 achievements. I am currently missing:
Congratulations!: Complete the game
Control King!: Complete a run with no deaths (from the title screen)
GOLD!? "Your Gold Knight"
I am currently unaware of how to get the GOLD!? achievement, considering that it has a higher percentage completion than the Control King! on steam's achievement rarity list for this game, I would assume that it's different from the 100th Death Achievement (your character automatically becomes golden at 100 deaths) so I'm not completely sure as to how to get this achievement, but nothing indicates that it would be easy to get.
Overall Thoughts
I think that the high dificulty alongside the numerous bugs that heavily punish you for things that may be out of your control creates a highly frustrating experience for the wrong reasons. The idea of a single-staged game with harsh regulations on progress definitely gets grating after many hours of failing the first 2 balloons over and over, and can feel like the game isn't giving you the opportunity to actually complete it the way it was intended. Certain aspects of this can be overcome with "training" but for the most part people who have good gaming skills will still struggle with the general buggy engine and find that their progress may be completely reset due to factors outside of their control. This may turn off many players, and I therefore cannot recommend this game to a general audience since you'd have to be insane to try and beat this game without dying.
All in all the concept is a solid 5/10 but the execution is so poor that I cant help but feel that it is only deserving of a 3/10. Unless it's on sale and you're a masochist, don't bother with it.

The controls in and of themselves aren't bad, but the controls are barely acceptable, and become actively painful once the camera starts doing its own thing. Even on controller its still somewhat random if the head will go in the direction you want it to, as often it will go the wrong way around a pole. Don't consider playing on keyboard and mouse unless you're fine with the camera and head AI to ♥♥♥♥ you over in the later levels where moving platforms and wind don't allow for the corrections needed to succesfully 1-shot a map. The achievements are also interesting and some of them are actually cool, like not being able to swim in a specific water level and having to take a long-way around to get past certain sections. Overall, it's a good game worth trying and playing, and if the controls ever get improved I would definitely purchase a DLC, but it feels like everything that could've been done with the concept was done and this is a fairly tight package. Playtime is at the long end 15 hours.

Probably my second favorite game out of 2017, and well within my top 10 games of all time. To try and convince people as to why you should play this game, all I can say is that this is a masterclass in the metroidvania genre, with excellent exploration and combat, along with a truly immersive world and atmosphere. There are very few games that can even hold a candle to Hollow Knight, and take this from a guy who took 4 save files before finally muscling through the entire game.
The game is an easy 10/10, with only minor glitches and a high difficulty curve possibly tarnishing its legacy. Everyone agrees this is one of the greatest games of all time.
Other than that, barter is not the right word; there are items you can have in your inventory that don't disappear upon death, but otherwise everything is bought with money. Other than that the trailer says it all.
