It finally happened, ZUN finally put a game on Steam. He actually did it, the absolute madman.

Touhou 16 but now on Steam. It's pretty much the same as 16, but now you don't have to feel guilty about pirating the game or spend $50+ on importing a CD. It's the first in the series to release on Steam, with 15.5 being the next one to release if 16 sells well (which it already is). Hopefully the older games release on Steam as well.

The game is straightforward: shoot, collect, and don't get hit. The game has an arcade-y feeling where you only get a limited number of continues, with some content requiring you to finish the game without using any continues. You get to choose from 4 playable characters, each with their own play styles and level of difficulty. The game is short but offers a ton of replayability.

Even though Touhou 16 is 16+ games into the series, it's a great starting point for new players. It's the most accessible game since it's on Steam, it's the most recent game so it's the most functionally stable one, and you don't need to play previous games to play or understand this one. Not to mention it offers a practice mode and an easy difficulty option for players to improve.

It's a great game with a nice community and a near endless supply of fan content. Half the fun that comes from this series is all the art and music people create.

If you're interested in the game, consider getting an English patch. You can play without it (fly around and shoot, don't need language for that), but you miss out on the story since you can't read anything. Touhou Community Reliant Automatic Patcher (thcrap) is your friend, and free too!

You run around picking up all sorts of weapons and blunt object in a bloody battle to see who is the greatest duck. A brutal war with only one survivor and as you stand over your enemy's lifeless bodies the only thing left to do is quack. Soon enough you're enemies stand up and you're all taken to a new location, where the cycle begins anew in a fated conflict of endless despair and colorful environments.

Also you can quack on command.
Any game that has a dedicated quack button deserves the highest amount of praise.
