Pretty great (not)game.

It's a mix of Five Nights at Freddy's and Papers Please, used to deliver a pretty fun and unique experience, in which you, a TV news editor, gets to control the narrative of a country's going through political turmoil.

The gameplay has its fair share of gimmicks per chapter to keep things fresh, some work better than others but they all make things a bit more interesting at the very least. The comedy's pretty nice for the most part, it had me laughing out loud quite a few times and the writing as a whole sometimes had me so engaged that I forgot to do my job. The acting is pretty great too, the hosts and politicians trying to keep a happy front really sold the game's jaded cynicism, and Jeremy's actor did a splendid job.

My only real issue with the game is that despite it having an amount of endings and content that I wasn't expecting, I simply am not too interested in rewatching these comedy bits several times back to back just to improve my score or get different endings, I'll certainly do it at some point, but not at the same pace I'd tackle completionism in a "normal" video game. If this is something that doesn't really matter for you, then I fully recommend this (not)game, it was a great, fun experience.

And get your prostate checked.

Pretty fun gameplay, nice music, story's alright and gets carried by banter between the characters, missions have enough variety to them to keep them fresh and were pretty enjoyable. Buying planes is a bit too grindy though, and Conquest mode is a fun idea to play around, especially with the modifiers, but once a certain alert level is reached the entire screen becomes too cluttered with enemies.

Good music choices, good visuals, good selection of game modes. It's well worth the price for the interesting experience it provides, and it's a good execution of the Tetris formula. The co-op mode is especially fun.

My only major issue with the game is how grindy the player progression is but this is irrelevant for the actual gameplay.

I loved this game, It's an improvement to Valkyria Chronicles 1 but it's dragged down a bit by the series' core concepts that haven't really evolved alongside the feature creep.

For pros:
+ Story is a lot better than in VC1, exploring a more interesting concept
+Squad E is more interesting than Squad 7, and each main cast member goes through a well executed character growth arc
+Squad Stories for secondary characters of Squad E, which gives more personality to the rank and file members of the squad
+The Empire's cast, despite still being a bit cartoonishly evil, has more relatable characters that go through arcs of their own.
+Command, Ship Orders, and the APC enable more interesting tactics for finishing levels
+Story missions and Skirmishes are far more interesting compared to VC1's

Cons
-The series has barely progressed in its core concept, all the new gimmicks (Command, ship orders, APC, Glory, Last Stand etc) are really interesting but the mileage you get from them will be limited due to the series' map scale and ranking system
-There's so many characters that some will feel under-developed compared to the characters that are well executed
-Squad Stories are one of my favourite things in the game, but grinding the Rank Points to unlock them is an insulting process.

Overall I really loved the time I spent with the game, I hope the series continues but that it considers some kind of evolution to its core concept.

A really fun urban horror story with an interesting set up, ok characters and really great art that really sells the setting and the somber mood of the story. The story has a mix of Japanese folklore and urban legends that really make for a fun and interesting setting as far as video games go; and the gameplay is split between Visual Novel segments and puzzle sections where the player must use context clues from either dialogue or the items he finds to defeat spirits. It's a fairly engaging system that respects the player for the most part.

However I can only recommend the game to people with patience for dealing with janky systems and bug fixing. Here's a few issues that I encountered during my playtime that might be a deal breaker to some:

-The mansion menu has a "Save&Exit" option under System, this option does nothing, my progress up to that point was lost;
-If you find an object and your character mentions he needs something to use that object after you click to examine the item, you might have to leave the room, find that item and come back, when this happens, simply using the item on the object won't suffice, you'll have to re-examine the object again;
-There is an extra chapter after the Good Ending, but the game seems to crash for nearly everyone at the start of the credit sequence, the only consistent solution for this appears to be using an Hex Editor change the filetype of the credit sequence from .mov to .xxx and hoping for the best.

It's still a really enjoyable horror experience, and I'll leave the review positive for that.

A considerable upgrade over the original, the visual improvements go way beyond what you'd expect from a Remaster and entire areas feel completely revamped and improved. The music was changed in some ways, I liked those changes a lot but I feel like an improvement could have been done to the way fishing and mini-bosses cuts off ambient music. The gameplay and movement feels a lot smoother which make playing the game a lot more enjoyable, I actually felt like playing around with movesets and spells instead of just jump+attacking my way to victory.

The new content is amazing, I can't really expand beyond that, but everything new that the game added was of good quality, improved the game and made me love its characters even more. It's hard to sell what makes both Niers special without spoiling what makes them special, but the original was well worth the ride, and I loved every second I spent on this remaster/make too.

As for the port's technical aspects, lock your framerate, that's it, 'slow down' during magic is normal, and any other slow down is caused by the hardware not being up to par with the game's requirements, the mouse cursor thing is incredibly annoying but as far as I'm aware there's a fix. I experienced an issue where my first time loading into my save would lock the framerate at below 60, but reloading the same save somehow made the issue fix itself, so it wasn't too much of a bother.

Early Access Review
This game is quickly becoming one of my favourite SP and MP games. It's a great execution of its theme, has a lot of attention to detail, is really atmospheric, has great modding potential, and it's extremely fun in co-op and multiplayer. Every round/mission will either feel like a sci-fi horror movie or some weird clown themed dark comedy. Its only major flaw are the NPC's AI, the AI is good enough to maintain a submarine and allow the player to play Singleplayer with no major issue, but unfortunately it doesn't handle diving missions all that well which will impact the way any diving mission is played (repeated diving for loot and limited storage), there are some workarounds that are helpful in the Workshop though.

Even though the Early Access tag put me off at first, the game has a very solid roadmap with meaningful changes and content updates happening consistently, and the game clearly has a well thought out production plan. It feels less like an Early Access title, and more like a game that's just regularly updated.

Pretty fun city builder, I like the setting choice, the art design, and the music is pretty nice. The city building mechanics are pretty much a more streamlined version of Zeus, walkers can be directed through routes meaning that roads aren't cluttered by roadblocks, production buildings can store a minimal amount of goods and directly send them to markets which slightly lowers the amount of storehouse spam in the game. Mechanics that could be completely ignored in Zeus like invasions and unrest were cut out. The player is given a lot more room to worry about the more interesting parts of logistics and I appreciate that. The amount of content in the game is limited, but optimising logistics is pretty great if that's what you're into.

Pretty neat game, the gameplay is pretty basic since it's split into two phases with a limited number of choices+some RNG the game throws the player's way to benefit his runs. The whole game is a balancing act of numbers representing virtues and opinions which is pretty fun if you're into optimizing things. The art and sound design make the game feel really atmospheric and really set the tone once things get trippy with the different endings the game has to offer. I'd say the biggest issue the game has is the DLC, a feature that sounds interesting in theory but that mostly just gets in your way but that can be brute forced through once you make it past the early game, the DLC can be disabled by rolling the game back in the game's properties but the complaint stands.

Fun game, the music is good, has a good difficulty slope, maps/missions have different ways to be approached depending on your vehicle/equipment, and completely destroying a map feels great. People complain a lot about the controls but the game has two control schemes and I found both to be pretty easy to get my head around, the game is pretty lacking as far as having an engaging story goes but I don't feel like this necessary, the point of the game is having a playground for the player to blow up things in. I'd say the game's biggest flaw is the campaign having fixed pilot set ups that, depending on the mission, might not be fun to play, and while Freelance acts as an alternative, it first needs to be grinded for money which isn't all that interesting.
