Before time was time, the Earth was formless and void and darkness stretched over the surface of the deep. Then God said “Let there be light.” And there was light, and God saw that it was good. So, being the guy that he is, he decided to meddle some more and separate the light from the darkness. And the darkness? The Darkness resented it. In that moment, a bitterness and spite was born that would fester and grow for centuries, distilling itself to raw, seething perfection. Ages would pass before The Darkness found a vessel worthy to inherit its boundless hatred. The vessel was mankind, God’s most favored of all his creations.

The Darkness found fertile ground for its chaotic lust in the bloodline of a family thought barely human by its fellow man...

Lo and behold, in shadows deep and cold,
A gamer rises, his skill to behold.
He battles through the night, with aim so true,
The darkness ranking up, his goal in view.

With sweat upon his brow and fingers quick,
He fights to rise, his enemies to pick.
Through smoke and flash, he strikes with deadly force,
His enemies falling, their fates now divorced.

But as he climbs, the stakes grow ever higher,
His foes more skilled, their aim a deadly fire.
Yet still he fights, with courage true and bold,
The darkness ranking up, his heart full of gold.

For in this game, he finds his true delight,
A world of combat, where all else takes flight.
And so he plays, through day and through the night,
The darkness ranking up, his spirit bright.
