Hidden Gem <3

My friend found this game and told me about it while we were looking for an easy to run f2p game for his laptop; this game's genre perfectly blends our contrasting gameplay preferences—BR, hero shooters, and MOBAs. Wasn't sure I was gonna like it, had a rough first game as it put us against experienced players, but we managed a top 5 thanks to the revive system and started getting the hang of it. My friend seemed to like it and I definitely think it deserves more recognition. Queue times can be a bit rough coming from popular games, but they're not unbearable by any means imo.

Fun, but full of bugs, crashes, and more bugs.

Just wanted to say if your friend has the Xbox Gamepass version (preview) they can't play with you since it's on an older version (v0.1.1.0 instead of 0.1.3.0). I'm not sure if buying it on xbox gives you the updated version or if it just lets you play it without gamepass.

For those that played and didn't like the gunplay: Season 5 removed the most hated unique trait of the gun play that is significant & misleading visual recoil. Now that the recoil has been reworked the gunplay feels a lot smoother.

The rest of the review: This has become my main game since it released. This game really just has it's own sort of magic that no other game I've played can really do the same. When I first reviewed this game around launch I was wishing for it's success and while it's player count has somewhat stagnated I think that Embark has done a great job with communicating with the community, hosting, events, and putting out frequent updates; sure they're not perfect and there'll always be room for improvement I think they're one of the best developers we have especially considering the current state of many video games right now. Just like any other game I'll be frustrated at times due to some minor bugs and what not, but the game itself is solid. I think the biggest thing holding this game back at the moment is how demanding it can be on certain hardware. They've had multiple optimization updates, but at the start of every season since season 3 there seems to be a theme of horrible input lag and/or fps drops and frame-time variation.

This game is so damn good, wish I started playing sooner. Ty for the free weekend.

Unless they've updated this game since I last played—which I doubt considering it's been in early access since 2016—I would not even recommend trying this game, waste of time, too many bugs, lots of disconnects, dead servers, drift physics are awful, and if you do decide to play online and manage to get into a game it's not sbmm or based on your cars performance so you can just lose b/c someone has a better car and you can't tandem close enough with them from what I remember. Big let down of a game.

Probably won't main any of the items besides maybe the ink nib pen, but it's a good deal and it's a seasonal excuse to support the devs via my wallet.
