This game, while I now play it very rarely, has impacted largely what types of games I play. It has allowed me to expand into more first person shooters, look for more fun, less serious games as well. And this game has been going somewhat strong for almost a decade, which shows that this game has not only impacted many users, but that it has also stood the test of time. This game, which can be considered what got many into the FPS genre, will always have it's spot in modern day shooters, as there will be an active player base that will be dedicated to playing this timeless classic.

While not an accurate replacement, Blackwake is an ideal game for emulating naval combat at an affordable price. While Sea of Thieves is more fleshed out, in both island exploration and design, Blackwake is great if you are primarily interested in combat between ships. In addition to that, its 4x cheaper than Sea of Thieves, at a $10 price point. The gameplay itself is rewarding to players who grasp the mechanics, and doesn't have too much of a skill floor to overcome. While not a permanent replacement to other pirate games, Blackwake is a great game to convince your friends to buy and have a fun night screaming about how the ship is sinking.
