Fun game, has dark souls 1 vibes. Has the best coop implementation in any souls game.

Plagued with crashing and disconnected from Host issues though

Somehow they took all the mechanics and systems that made vermintide 2 great and butchered and gave us "vermintide 2 at home"

Lmao. They added a battle pass? Steve Piggott's greed truly knows no bounds.

Let's recap for those who aren't familiar with TBS history :

Deadliest Warrior releases in 2013 as an expansion for Chivalry : Medieval Warfare. The game is fun and full of potential, but also rife with bugs, oversights and balance issues that need fixing. Not a single patch would be applied to this game post-launch. Literally abandoned day 1, even though the game gets excellent viewership numbers on Twitch/YouTube for the time. That was cashgrab number 1.

TBS adds paid cosmetics to Chivalry : Medieval Warfare some time in 2013-2014. Helmet skins are sold as microtransactions to support the game's continued growth. Little did people know at the time, TBS would choose to halt development and focus their efforts on another game soon after...

Even though Chivalry :MW still had a decently active userbase, TBS releases Mirage : Arcane Warfare as a full-priced release. A half-assed game no one wanted, that tried to blend the Chivalry formula with awfully tone deaf art style and magic abilities. The game is so bad, so unstable and poorly designed it instantly results in a massive flop for TBS. After some very questionable practices (during which the few unfortunate souls who paid for the game got their access removed or something), TBS supposedly blames Steam for the failure of this laughable, uninspired cashgrab, and fades into obscurity for years.

A few years later, and people are waiting for a proper Chiv sequel to be made. It is at that time that a former Chiv :MW dev speaks out. Allegedly, the CEO and current owner of the company completely ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over the talent behind Chiv 1 map design by refusing to pay them and some other shady ♥♥♥♥. Piggott would later respond and try to quell the controversy. It's a "he said/he said" situation, and tbf it seems there may have been shady stuff happening on both sides of this drama. Still, this isn't a one time occurrence of greedy ♥♥♥♥ happening. There's clearly a pattern at play here.

Chiv 2 is announced as an Epic Game Store exclusive. The storefront where consumers don't have a voice (no user reviews) and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ devs go to get guaranteed money. Even though the first game's playerbase was on Steam... Aka the platform that put TBS on the radar in the first place. 0 ♥♥♥♥♥ given, some convenient PR speak about needing the Epic funding to achieve their goals, and on we go. Meanwhile Mordhau proved that Steam users would instantly support an early access release. But I guess TBS leadership didn't see it that way.

Chiv 2 release is delayed to simultaneously launch with consoles version / cross-play in order to maximize sales. Of course, the studio being inexperienced with that kind of technical challenge would obviously end up in massive issues (like bugged PC parties for months post launch, or cross-play parties still lacking to this day). But Piggott didn't care. Extra money was on the line. Cross-play would need to be achieved in 6 months, whatever issues would arise for those pesky PC players and their unwanted expectations.

Chiv 2 releases on Steam a year later to double dip sales number. 0 ♥♥♥♥♥ given to players who already own the game on EGS. Want the game on a decent gaming platform? Better pay up another 30 bucks, or remain condemned to EGS hell.

And now, months later, a battle pass is coming in. Piggott can't go 6 months without another cashgrab scheme. Absolutely disgusting. And before people come in and reply with "devs gotta eat", do some research about the industry. No way in hell a small studio (backed by a publisher no less) such as TBS needs all that money. One PC release alone would provide them the means for a few years of free support, let alone two releases + consoles sales numbers...

How ironic the ones who brought the slasher genre forward on the gaming scene would also be the ones that limit its growth with constant greed and incompetence... This fiasco doesn't surprise me one bit. Anyone who stuck with these devs for a decade knows their leadership's true nature. Too bad because the formula is good, and there's certainly talent at TBS. But this is just laughable at this point.
